Check these out and let me know if these are close to some bubble nose grips that came with some models. Might be a good alternative to OEM NOS that are no longer available? Does anyone have some of these originally on their sled that can compare them? Sparkle Handle Grips Fit Huffy Murray Muscle Bike New 4 3/4" long Handle Grips. admin, I have never seen that style on a bubble. Here is a set of NOS red scorp ones that match what were on my silver Scorpion originally. I don't think I have ever seen another red pair. Good thing for my snipe bid on ebay. Black ones seem to be all over.

OK, clue me in!
I thought that the 70 models went to the black grips.
69 had the style like I pictured.
So, when would have sparkly grips been used on a bubble?

The ones DDub posted are the ones I am familiar with. They are really a nice grip and stay really soft. Some Italian made grip. The ones in the ebay ad look like a bicycle grip. Considering a a NOS set sells for $30 and up for if you can find them, $10 isn't pad for red sparkly grips

So, when would have sparkly grips been used on a bubble? ddub, I agree some/most 70' models come with the thin black grips. I think I have seen a few though with the red thin sparkly grips. Here's a photo of a 70 with those, Source, www.scorpionsleds.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=classified&action=display&thread=161I cannot say for sure these are OEM but I think they are. Now let's compare them to the bicycle grips in the eBay ad, and a side by side comparison, The bicycle grip has four finger nubs and so does the OEM, but the OEM has three nubs toward the top and one at the bottom-end while all four of the nubs on the bicycle grip are evenly spaced and toward the bottom end of the grip. The bicycle grip has fine groves in it, all over the place, whereas I think the OEM is smooth. I think the back side of the OEM grip (not shown here) has a completely different raised pattern on it if they are like the thin black grips. So there we go, for what it's worth. I think these eBay sparkle grips would pass as long as the vintage sled judge did not read this board! Talk about dissecting the finest details of a Scorpion. This is the kind of research I think can be really useful to others and/or just plain cool!

You might check to see if you still have them in your possession.

So the moral of the story is use what ever works because snowmobile manufacturers back then just used whatever they found! Sometimes we get too hung up on finding it through Scorpion venues rather than just finding something that works!

I think we might need to find at least two more photos of sleds with red grips to have more certainty they are really OEM. Perhaps it is only sleds with Kohler engines, built on Fridays. The other thing I cannot tell from the photo is, are the red grips on that sled really sparkly-glitter-metal flake red or are they solid red? And finally, will those sparkly bicycle grips fit on the sled properly, a 7/8" handlebar?

I just recieved the grips from www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-Biemme-Grips on E-bay. They do not look like the photo and do not have an external anti-vibration feature. The white rings are easily removed however. I like them but are not what I expected.

The thing that got me into this handlegrip thing is my grips on my 70' were slipping off. I could have glued them but this led me to checkout the different kinds of grips that came on the early Scorpions. I did buy the red sparkle grips from eBay and just installed them. They may not be OEM but they are nice and soft, slide on with the perfect amount of resistance (fairly tight to slide on) and stick tight. Here's some pics of the new grips installed. I'll post about my OEM black grips that I removed next. I'm keeping them for future use.

Now we'll compare the black grips I pulled off my 70' to those red grips on the 70' we talked about above. I was wondering if those red grips on the 70' were OEM correct for the year. If we assume the black grips I just pulled off my 70' are OEM and compare them to the red grips shown in the photo on the other 70' model, they do look like the same design, Notice how I had to take the photos of my black grips with the most awesome cool background I could find. So, again, perhaps it was only the 70' models with Kohler engines, built on Fridays, after lunch, that got the red grips!
