After messing around an adjust the the carburetor I was finally able to get my Sting to start a lot easier and idle normally, I also did a compression test as well, and I did the old seal test using starting fluid, I think the motor may be fine. I know how a two cylinder 2 stroke snowmobile engine should sound, the motor sounds completely normal, however, the primary clutch is loud as hell, it's as if some internal parts are broken.
Are the primary stock clutch's on these machines loud? ....the clutch seems to work properly.
I had a Nitro that had a very loud primary, it was completely normal (nothing wrong) it drove me crazy...I just thought I would check here regarding the Sting before I pull it to inspect.
When I locate some replacement cog drivers I will go ahead and replace the drive bearings, suspension (spring and shock) and whatever else is needed.
I do not want to pour a lot of money into this old sled, it's become personal and it's a sled I will never use for a daily ditch banging/trail sled....I will probably end up giving her a good polish/detail and shelve it for occasional vintage rides.
