Ok,I only take them dam things in, or out about every three years so I am not an expert. But I put the last one in just exactly as you described, and in that same order.
I had the sled sitting in it's normal position, with a chain hoist on the back so I could raise it up and down some.
It is a bit of a struggle finagling the suspension into the track, and I found it helped to remove at least one rear idler bogie wheel, and of course the track adjusters as loose as they go.
Then it is the usual struggle getting the bolts started. Sometimes I countersink the shafts a bit, seems to help start the bolts.
Have you got the mounting dimensions?
You have any UFO,s out there?

I have a few that I took off another Scorpion. The 2 front holes are the same distance from the top of tunnel as is the center of driveshaft.THEN the first holes for front of suspension,is 5" toward the rear from center of the chaincase hole. Then from those 2 holes,48" back to the 2 rear holes which about 1" from top of tunnel.Thats all I figured I would need.Do they seem about right? I have a junk tunnel I will be using so I can put many holes in,if necessary to get it right or close.

The rear H works, and I had engineering problems with my custom set up. I think OBJ has experimented with something different back there too, but so far the H is the way to go.

Worked on the front drivers/shaft today. When I get it done,I'll try my hand at putting the para-rail in with a few changes. If it doesn't work,I'll forget it & put all Rupp in.The complicated life of a sledder, always something that requires more work/thought than it's worth.

As long as you enjoy doing it, go for it. I love working on sleds, and admittedly hardly ever ride them.
This old shit gives me something to be thinking about rather work all the time. I actually believe this hobby keeps me from going crazy, or becoming depressed like so many people now days.
You realize when you get that Para-Rail in there you will have a grass dragger! Have you ever seen a Wahl Brothers grass drag suspension?

Watching this with interest Dan.I have an extra pararail and track assembly from a donor scorpion whip we got for my wifes machine for parts.I had this same idea. I actually fit the works in a spare '74 nitro 11 tunnel just to see & it does fit and got FA/Magnum drivers from Rick to be able to use a rupp driveshaft in it.I just havent got to doing anything yet cause our summer was so wet and now its too damn cold to worry about it either when you are working outside. On top of that I ended up coming across a 76 duster chassis with a virtually perfect bunch of bogies and drive and a track that has little cracking. The idea is to eliminate the worry of slides with our crappy up & down winters and I really like the way the pararail feels on my wife's whip.Put a spare cuyuna I got in my rupp and it might be scary lol. NitroMan, can you post of pic of your experiment. I tried to do the same thing, sounds like we had similar results, but it can be done. Of course I am thinking of drag racing where we do not want much travel.
I think it would work fine if we were able to lock the front portion of the suspension and only use it as a pivot point, making the whole thing just a big swing arm?
I have a feeling your going to be running one of those Rupps at Willow next summer! I will be your pit man.

This experiment went by the wayside.I handed it over to a Scorpion buddy, who will refine it some & hopefully put in one of his sleds. It was fun trying to figure out how to get it to work.Everything looked good in the sled, but had a problem with track, not keeping its tension. It is time to move on.All was not lost tho'. The tunnel I had set aside for this, just got a Chaparral track & reworked Rupp suspension.Work is progressing quite nicely. All my Scorpion parts are now gone,I will stick to Rupps.Later.
