My 1980 Sting is the newest Scorpion I've ever owned. Our old ones only had the fuel dip stick. My gas gage is in perfect condition, but I notice there is no seal between it and the tank. Is this normal? Is that how the tank gets vented? Seems like it will leak some fuel in rough riding conditions. I could install an o-ring in the cap, but don't want to starve the tank for air. Thanks for your help guys!

Mine has no rubber. It's just a tight plastic on plastic fit. The vent hole is between the E and the F on the "glass". I was looking at your sled picture. It's an 80 or 81 Sting hood, but the rest seams to be of another model. Your tunnel sticker says 400 and has a blue stipe. Mine had a 440 with a red stripe. My paraslide says "Paraslide III" on it and I believe you said yours is a "II" model?...you may have a blend of 2 different models?

My serial number says it was made in 1979, but is an 80 model. It did come with a 400 engine that was replaced with this 440. It runs really strong. I'll try riding with no seal on the gas cap...if it ever starts snowing here! Thanks for the information!
