Hey all- fresh rebuild. Haven’t been able to start yet.
New pistons, rings, crank seals.
New Mik Carb
I have about 120 on each side.
I’m getting good bright spark.
Brand new gas
Getting fuel- the fuel filter isn’t “full”- but I can see the fuel going through the line- and each time I pull carb -bowl is full.
Primer is working.
Fuel pump is full of fuel each time I Check it.
Motor is not flooded - nothing comes out of brass plug when I pull it out.
Super frustrated.
Any advise?
Thanks!!!!

Any chance the plug wires, or wires from points to coil are switched. Try switching and see if pops. Verify your timing Another thing that always works from me is a shot of Stabil in the carb. This oily stuff causes lots of compression and starts engines, you can even keep it running on this till the float bowl fills up. Also you can blow into the gas tank, or use a rag and an air hose, give it few puffs and watch the float bowl fill with gas. Another thing is be sure your exhaust is not plugged or partially plugged, that will make them not start.

Got it startes- as it turns out-it was flooded... But now- I may have an issue with the throttle safety switch. I tightened up the throttle cable so that it would pull the throttle towards the switch- and depress it- or else I wouldn’t get spark. But now- when I have it running- it kills the motor when I just let go of the throttle and the switch gets dwpressed. Am I doing something wrong? To recap- it’s Won’t start unless the switch is depressed- and it won’t stay running when the switch is depressed. Stumped...

Just replied below. Know anything about my throttle safety switch?

What sled is it, points or cdi?
Those throttle safety switches are always a problem. I disconnect mine, and use a tether.
Otherwise, you have to have all the slack out of the cable, and both switches have to be good, which is wishful thinking on a 40 year old sled.
Are you in Homer AK?
