howdy Scorp world. new guy here. I am in the process of picking up a '75 440 Whip. From the bro-in-law. Tis free!!!! ;D He and I don't know much about it except it hasn't run in a few years. Am trying to get my proverbial ducks in a row. Should they need them....where does one get replacement or aftermarket ski shocks??

There are several on this forum that will be able to help you with Scorpion NOS parts. Ebay is also a good source.

Sounds silly but the FIRST thing you should check for is a mouse/rats nest in the muffler.
Tripped up many a sled owner that has had a sled stored awhile.
I am in the boating business...many a rats nest has been found in a boat thats been stored over the winter(s)! Dennis

Dennis MP, Why doesn't the mouse nest fly out of the muffler when the engine is running?! Can you give us some symptoms of mouse nest plugged muffler?

Engine is very hard to start and no power once it is running. Everything checks out OK...good compression, good spark, plenty of fuel...but just won't start!
The mouse builds the nest inside the muffler one piece at a time and it could be very large.
Sometimes it will come out once the engine starts but most of the time the engine won't start.
Always a big problem with anything that is stored for a long period of time in a garage or outdoors like a boat, snowmobile or motorcycle.

I would also like to add that a partially plugged pipe will start hard but run. It will not let the engine wind out. It will feel like you are jetted fat. Don't try to lean it out. Throw the muffler in a campfire for an hour or so and try it again.

You can find stuff like this in the pipe. It is crazy how much stuff they can pack in there.
