jchale, hows it goin on the drive shaft? The bearing has a cam lock on it. Hit it with a punch. You will have to soak the bearing with oil, held upright in a vise, on each end, for a few nights. Then, a gear puller will pull off the bearing. Sometimes you need too torch it to. From the looks of it, you should order new bearings from DENNIS KIRK INC. in Minnesota. They are about 20 bucks shipped. Standard 1in collar lock.
jchale, when you say that the bottom sprocket doesnt slide off the shaft, it may have been assembled wrong and stuck. I had a bottom sprocket stuck on so bad one time that I had to cut the gear in half with a cutting torch to get it off. I also cut the belly pan side open. But in your case, no pun intended, its very hard to get in there to slide the gear off because you have the old style case. OBJ1, help! You may be up for alot of work. I have pulled apart the oldest, crustiest, rustiest, stinkiest, greasiest scorpion shafts known to man. I will try to help. good luck, Keep us posted. PS cool Ski doo

Update. I got the lower gear off by creating a puller. I used a screw clamp around the smaller diameter of the gear. I put two nails either side of the gear and leveraged of that. It came off fine (thank god after hearing pararailer's experience). I removed the the entire under carriage. The machine is completely stripped and will head off for sand blasting and paint in the next week or two. When I have some free time away from my 13 mth little girl I will start to go through all the parts. How difficult is it to replace the bogie wheel bearings? I looked quickly but the collar seems pressed together with some type of rivet. As for the driveshaft. The right side bearing, collar or shaft is bent. The collar is loose although if I hold it up tight and spin the bearing it has a wobble. Pararailer when you mention collar lock you are referring to the type of bearing correct from Dennis Kirk? Not the actual collar that holds the bearing true and to the tunnel.
I have been in touch with Matt regarding a windshield and Jack regarding a seat cover and other misc. parts.
I will also need to clean everything along with the carb which will be a learning experience. I've worked on barrel and slide carbs but never one like this. I have a printed manual on the Tillotson carbs and found a few post on YouTube.
I will take some pics and share my refurbish with you.
Help like this sure enables one to take on projects like this. If there are any other tricks that anyone is aware of please post.
Thanks
