Yep, pull the engine. tear it down. new seals. seal crank case . clean points and after re-assembly, set timing correctly. If it has a air leak or timing isnt right, you'll have problems. Make sure you have a good quality flywheel puller. many headaches start with pulling the flywheel.

picked up a nice mark III widetrack hood for 30 bucks. pretty good shape. also got a bumper for it too but its kinda rusty and has a big dent in it. Ill see what I can do with it. Although not new to my shop I also have a freshly cleaned up and painted 71 stingerIII chassis. Hmm.... mabey that 6bolt head cuyuna motor on the bench....71 super widetrack seatcover down in the basement.....I do have a nice 74 widetrack rear bumper my dad found on ebay and mailed to me.... shit I guess I may as well add another to the herd!!!!!

Finishing up a ccw 400 today for a 71 mark 2. needed crankshaft bearings and center seals. I'll time it and test run it tomorrow.

just joined the scorpion gang over the weekend. a 72 tunnel w/ Para Rail susp and 73 yellow wedge hood w/ a 400 Rockwell stuffed under it. If you had to give just a one line description about this sled what would you say?

The 1973 was the worst Scorpion ever! High center of gravity! Rough riding! Heavy! Not reliable! Possible bad center seal in crankshaft! Not a modern snowmobile by 1973 standards! Sorry...telling it like it is is sometimes painfull!!!

I should have known, it tipped over when I went to look at it! but i do like the steel tunnel (i can weld to it easily) I wanna put a long track skid in it, pogo's front suspension mod up new sterring geometry and keep the stock hood for a deep powder trailer blazer and work sled. ;D
