I also have a problem, the sled will not pull fuel through the lines, iv rebuilt the carburetor and inspected the rings on the pistons (it has a ton of compression). i'm thinking it could be how i have the fuel lines set up. I found this sled in a field and the lines were rotted away so i had no reference. i cant find a fuel line diagram for this carb anywhere, any help works. (the carb is a tillitson hr98a) did you check and replace the lines in the fuel tank? they are known to get brittle and break off in the tank causing to fuel not to pull thru. one line is the pick up in the tank, this line will be about 14'' long with a filter on the end. this line goes into the pump part of your carb. the other line is the return and does not have a long hose in the tank. this gets hooked up to the return nipple on the carb. rick

on a ccw engine the id tag is attached to the cooling fan housing, normally on the exhaust side. there will be a serial number also.

you will have to get your hands on a plastic welder and use the same type of plastic that the belly pan is made of. there is a old post on here somewhere that deals with the process.

remove the plug off the switch and see if you now have spark. your sled will run without the connector on the switch but you will not have lights. if you have spark then its the switch, if not you have a wire issue.

sand your points with 400 grit paper and the clean the points with brake clean. this is a very common problem with a sled that has not been run in a while.i do this every fall to all my scorpions.

Hello All, I am tryin to turn my secondary the 1/3 turn before placing on snapring. As I turn it it will pop off the holders. The spring looks like it has its orig right angles... And the holder is a bit worn- but looks like it should hold the spring... Am I doing something wrong? I get almost all the way to the 1/3 and every time it pops off the holders... There's no paint on it- so who knows if it's even orig... this is one job that an extra set of hands really helps. i found that one person pulling from the back side while the other person pushes and puts the c-ring on makes it much better.

the old one you have is an eaton recoil which was used on the whips. the other one was used on the tk's and stings. contact chip at scorpionfarms@att.net he had the parts i needed to rebuild mine for my 79 whip.

That was pretty rough. I don't know that I have that much ambition! It's nice that we don't have rust problems in Montana. Gary i restore old cadillacs and old scorpions because it keeps me out of trouble and its fun. i told my wife many years ago when i was going to build my 30 x 50 shop.do want me in the bars chasing women or in my shop where you can see me. she told me to build the shop. rick

They would be fast and easy! Somehow I thought they would wear through soft Plexiglas. Gary been using them since the mid 70's without one issue. rick
