pararailer I was at the crowsnest last night the bar just up the road from your grandpas old dealership on knife lake there, and i had my scorpion hat on. There was a guy sitting next to me, I noticed he kept looking at my hat, and then asked me hey isn't that for those scorpion snowmobiles. I told him yea and I was into the vintage scorpion snowmobile addiction, and he started talking about your grandpas dealership He brought some scorps from your grandpa back in the mid 70's and knew all of them. I told him I knew you (grandson) and he was surprised how that scorpion legacy carries on. I was like yea your family is still in it I told about you obj1 and how you guys are still into them, and race them, and how it is just carried down through your family's over the years. I didn't get his name I just ordered a pizza to go had a couple beers and was outta there, but I just figured you guys would like that one.

In July 4th 69, a Silver metalflake Mark I chassis with a conglomeration of "non correct" parts was given away in Crosby at a Firemans raffel. On July 4th 1969, my dad purchased this same sled from the winner and it has been in the family ever since. I learned to ride snowmobile on it. It is the sled in my avatar. Then they came out with RED METALFLAKE! Oh man, schwinnng Big metalflake gets the chicks. I never knew the silver hood was factory, I always thought you had done that yourself. Pretty neat!

That sled is pretty much how it came from the factory other than an upgraded track.
Not a "correct" piece on it from the factory. LOL

I was born a Scorpion addict. My dad bought his first new Scorp in '67. I was born in'69, so it has been in my blood from the time of conception. There have been many different Scorpions in the yard over the years. Besides my Sidewinder, I always liked the '80 TKs and maybe the late '70s Stings. But I wouldn't mind owning any of them. I am currently working on a Sidewinder. It was originally owned by a Scorpion sales Rep. My dad bought it from him, so I am the 3rd owner. We also have my moms '74 Super Stinger in the barn that they bought new, waiting for the Sidewinder to get done. The '74 hasn't seen snow in a long time. I also own the 2 sided, Scorpion dealers light from the dealer that my dad bought most of his sleds from. I don't have a big collection, but they all have a little history that I enjoy. Hopefully one day I will be in a position to increase my collection, but for now I will just enjoy the Scorpion addiction on a smaller scale.

jr37, is your mom's super stinger the purple stingerette? I have three '75 super stingers. One red, one white and a blue one. I hope to add a gold and a purple one at some point.

Nope, It's the red metalflake. It is suppose to be a 290, but when it blew many years ago they put a 340 top end on it. When I get my hands on it, it will go back to the original 290
