Hello, New Member Here.
I bought a 1969 Scorpion mark 3, with a Sachs 297cc engine. The wiring has been chopped up. My Question is: where does to 2 yellow wires go coming out of the lighting Coil? ..One runs to the Ignition switch for the Head light, the other is folded back and Not being used. ..Should it go to something? ..Or, is it for a Battery if it had Electric Start?
I bought this machine and it was a No Start, Has No Spark. ..I removed the Fly Wheel and found the Ignition Coil mounting screw came loose and fell inside the Fly Wheel Housing. ..Yup, its ripped off the wires at the condenser and Mangled the return spring for the advance curve plate. I was able to find a spring suitable for that, and solder the wires back onto the condenser. Cleaned the points and set them to 0.16 Thousands. Have Not reassembled the engine as of yet. ...Hopefully I Have Spark?
My main concern is the funking wiring i came across.
Thanks In Advance.

I can't believe no one responded to your question. You are right about the two wire's coming off of the light coil. This was for electric start. I have that same engine in a 69 panther. Rick

I can't help you with your wiring problem, heres what I do. I usually make my own wiring harnesses, that way I can route the wires to where they are supposed to go.OR sometimes I take an original harness & take all the wrapping off the wires & see where they go--from stator to switch or vice versa. To me,there are just too many un-neccessary wires in a harness. I simplify them & cut out all wires I don't need.AND I usually use NEW wire, not the old, brittle, hacked up wires that are usually on the sled.

I run a lot of these singles. On a Scorpion wire harness, both of the yellow wires are set into the plug end off the motor but one of them is "dead ends" from there and the other one is used for the accessories i.e. lights. I agree with nitroking72 and usually make my own wire harness as well. Unless the original is in really good shape. I have in the past used both yellow wires, one for the headlight and the other for the taillight. Hope this helps!

I have a 69 Scorpion Mark 2. The ignition switch has been removed and bypassed. Headlight wires were tied directly to ignition switch. Can I wire headlight direct to coil?
