Anybody ever try this? I have a 69 mark II in rough shape, engine is a sachs 370 and I got it running, seat is shot, frame is good, track is like they all are...still on there, but I know it won't be good for much more than 100 feet. I also have a 73 superstinger 440 chassis with a good track and pararail. The chaincase is good and it has the secondary on it yet. I'd like to put the superstinger track and pararail on the Mark II. The Mark II doesn't have a secondary or top sprocket...ect, just an empty chaincase with a sprocket on the bottom. Will I be able to put the guts from the superstinger secondary shaft, ect in the Mark II Thanks for your consideration.

If you really want to get involved, you could even put the 73 aluminum chain case on the markII chassis. My cousin did that to his 70 stinger. He had a donor 72 chassis and cut out the section that the chaincase mounts to and welded that into the 70 chassis after cuting off the crapy steel chain case. Almost anything is possible. I dont know how far into it you want to get. As far as putting the newer secondary into the steel case, I think it is possible. In fact I have a 67 that has that but I have never tore it apart to see how it is put together. I have installed pararails into 2 different non pararail machines. First you will need to weld the hump into the tunnel in the rear. They made 2 styles. One that has a bolt holding the shock in the hump and one that does not. I think a 73 does have that bolt in it. You should be able to take the bolt hole dimensions off of the 73 chassis to get close. I hope the tunnel on a markII is not too much shorter than a 73. If it is, you may be out of luck. You could shorten the rails but Im not sure what track would work Another thing to consider is that if you position the pararail in the same position up front as a 73, you may not have enough ski presure. a 73 has longer spindles for the skis. It is tricky to get that adjusted correct. I stand the sled upright with the track and suspension hanging to get a look at how it needs to fit. This one is a pararail cut down to fit in a lilwhip track installed into a 72 stingeroo. this was a little harder because I had to widen all the shafts to clear the track drive lugs (they are spaced apart more in a lilwhip track) There is probably more that im not thinking of. If you have more questions just ask.

I learned from going to the charity build that not all secondary clutch bearing setups will mount into the steel chaincase housing. 72 works , but 73 has O rings that dont line up? Jack was telling me this but I dont remember for sure. I want to learn more.

I would rather swap out those steel cases for aluminun ones but there is a sled we picked up recently that needs special attention. It came from scorpion with a box built to move the steel case away from the tunnel. It came with a 18" drive shaft in a 15" tunnel. This is telling us that it must of had a motor that was so wide it needed the chain case to be moved over. Is this why scorpion never put a 793 hirth into a 15 and only a 18? This sled we picked up had a twin in it. There are two stinger pipe outlets on one side. With the spaced out chaincase, the pipes could only go one way. ... 740 sachs?...Interesting sled for sure.

I think maybe I'll try cutting out that steel chaincase and putting in the aluminum one in the 73 parts machine I have. You mentioned something about the pararail maybe not distributing the weight toward the skiis? I have time to plan this project, just trying to put the details together. Oh yeah, this sled's hood has "CannonBall" in big letters just below the windshield, so at least it's got a name!! I'll get some pics posted eventually.

Pararailer If I remember correctly, the 1970 triple Hirth I saw at the Buffalo Minnesota grass race (in the summer of 1970) had two pipes out the side and the third pipe wrapped around (above) the gas tank and out the front. Kinda like the 1971 four cylinder KING KAT.
I always wondered how they fit that Hirth Honker on top of a 15" sled! That must have been a 1970 Super Stinger (with the wide front end). I just didn't realize it at the time!
Putting it all together 42 years later! Dennis
