How do you make ski wideners for a whip with a single leaf spring ? I imagine it requires some welding?, or can I buy a bracket for this ? Anybody have an example.
Thank You

Some stings have widening type spindles.

Tk's too. Ask scorp 10 1/2 if the Tk or stings will fit.

Ok, Thanks guy's, I have a Sting in the shed, not sure if it has the widener style spindles, but I will effort that this weekend. Thanks again

I don't think the sting spindles fit. I would try to find a set of springs from an 80 sting or el tigre that has the bolt on shock/spindle mount. That way you can make a regular style spreader for them. I'm doing a set for my Sting now.

Scorp 10 1/2. . Funny guy. the "offset" spindles used on the 77/78 Stings and 79 TK's require more than just a spindle. I have widened them two ways. Offset Spindles. They make the ski stance 1 1/2 inches wider total. But, you need to replace everything seen in the picture. They use different steering arms, ski post bushings, spacers and spindles. It isn't just a matter of replacing the spindles. My homemade design. Makes it a lot wider and doesn't alter the height of the front. But. Need to use a grade 8 bolt for sure and you have to weld right to the spring shackle for it to work. If you want to go this route, I can take some pics of just the ski's and the widners

Yep,
I want to go that route, show us your home made design. I kind of figured on welding directly to the leaf spring, and that's ok, I like to weld. In fact, Scorpion snowmobiles are the only reason I know how to weld.
Thanks again guy's, great information

I know how to weld aluminum!!! Welded it back in the middle 60's. Haven't done it since,NO NEED to.It's cheaper to pay someone to do it,than go buy all the EXPENSIVE equipment. I still weld steel, have a Millermatic 175,with 75/25 gas. Thats ALL I NEED!
