I don't know that it would be "best" to list things one ebay "one by one" without knowing what you are listing.
Listing without an application will generally net you way under value because the only guy bidding will be someone knowledgeable about those parts.
And listing one by one is a lot of work as you must take pictures, write a description etc.
I have never had that good of luck selling unknown parts at a swap either. Lots of people wanting it for absolutely nothing is what is going to happen there. Damaged boxes, damaged parts, lots of work, stolen property. Been there, done that......
Just my take on it.
Actually, I would do what he is doing if I didn't want to truly catalog it (which is what I would do), only with more info. maybe a parts list, some better pictures etc if I didn't want to investigate what it was that I had.
We each have our own ways. It's what works for us. I wish him luck!

I guess its better he got this stuff than me I would end up being to lazzy to sort through it and it would all end up upstairs over my shop for who knows how long lol. Except for the items I know I need right now.

parts are worth only what someone will pay for them... as a seller you can ask what ever you like but need to be prepared to hang onto them for a long time... been there done that.

tritowns, agreed.
But my point is, we can't really put a value on this lot with the info provided in the sale info so I guess I don't feel good bashing the asking price.
There could EASILY be $2000.00 worth of stuff there. He says it includes 2 engines. Are they both Hirth Honkers? Probably not, but what if they were? A LOT of you guys would be running there to snatch this load up.
What I do see. NOS Belts, cdi, bogies, shafts, gas tank, carburetors, clutch parts, plastic shrouding etc.
I also see a lot of used take off parts and a lot of parts without part numbers. So there is going to be a whole lot of figuring out to do as for parts applications.
This is 14 tubs of parts. There COULD be some really cool scores in there. There COULD be mostly picked over garbage. We just don't know! LOL
And you can always go down on the price, he could easily just be fishing. If I was closer and had some spare change to invest, I'd be calling him and chatting. It would be worth a call.
You could always stay home and keep your money if the call didn't sound fruitful.
You could end up with a some parts though too.

Ya, I live just 45 minutes from Owatonna, but it sounds like the price is firm, still it would be fun to go for a dig and see whats in there.
I love collecting parts!
There is just no way I could invest two grand into a bunch of parts that can be darn hard to sell. But on the other hand, I am going crazy to see what is all there.

I went and looked at all the parts recently. Not much of real value there. I'd have a real hard time spending $2k on what he has there, personally.

I went back and checked out that thread, and the exhaust project. Did you have a muffler shop flair the pipe?, Did you weld the stainless yourself? I bet it works good, you do very nice work. I'm into old cars and have been working on a 1933 Ford, old school hot rod build for about 6 years now. The shop where it sits and I work on it is a shop that specializes in custom stainless steel exhaust work (headers, etc) but the guys there can build a car from the ground up if you wanted. Trying to wrap up a bunch of projects because I don't think the doors will be open in a couple years (guys will be retiring).....and the Scorp project is one of them. Anyways, I do all the initial fab work and pipe flaring. I can mig weld but not very experienced in stainless tig welding, so I save that for another guy at the shop. Pulled the muffler project out from under a bench the other day. Once wrapped up, I will have 1 or 2 others that will be for sale. I also made a few exhaust strap holders and hood "open" support brackets out of stainless.

I'd buy the parts lot but there just isn't $2k worth of stuff there. I'd be in the hole even if I resold everything.

Man, I need to get those mufflers done after re-reading this post! Forgot about them, been collecting dust. Too many things going on all the time. Finally found time today to fab up some parts for a tonneau cover that I can't get parts for anymore. It's always something.
