Time slips from Stock D Princeton and Douglas. These 2 pictures are the same, one is just turned the wrong way. If you are member you can double click the image and it will get big. My best run by far was the first test at 10:30 am. (nice dense air). We appear to have lost about 4 tenths by 1:30pm as the air temp and engines got hot. I noticed at Princeton, even though it was a night race, the sleds got slower each run! Do we need to use leaf blower to cool them down? I used a 440 whip with a sting pipe. 18/38 & Comet clutch. Engage at 4200 full shift was 7100. It did not run out of gear, as the rpm held steady at 7100 all the way to the end. I think a stiffer spring would have made for higher engagement and more fully shifted RPMs, and possibly a bit more mph. Any how, as a 440 it runs in D, eventually I am hoping to convert to a 400 in order to enter E stock as well. There was only 6 sleds (2 heats) of D stockers at Douglas, but it was good racing, and a good base line test for the Scorp. The winning Merc ran gooood! He said they did a lot of testing. Next Princeton race we need an all Scorp final.

Nice job weverat. Ashley can run quicker than the 7.66 showen. But 7.2 like the gpx would be tough. However, the gpx was disqualified also!! Wasn't that gpx in Ashley ' s semi final?

Yes, the GPX was in lane one.
You know, one year at Waconia' I got bumped out in the first heat by two sleds that made it to the final, and then one of them was a DQ.
What sucks is, I got one race, and had to load a sled that could have won the final. A looser bracket would help make sure the four fasted sleds are in the final race.
What was the GPX DQd for?
It seams the Mercs are winning the D Stock lately. They have a jack shaft, twin carbs, and sometimes a bigger driven pulley. But they also have a lot of rolling resistance on the track, nothing free wheels like a para-rail. Whoops, I just got an idea!

Not sure why he was DQ'd. The only thing they checked on our stuff was fuel. Yes the Mercs are fast. Murray Roberts won it and he is always fast. Roger Besar was 2nd. We have been out running him most times we meet. He must of had some good starts or his heats fell right for him. Did ya see in E STOCK Ashley took care of that 71 quad plug ext cat of Zach John?

That quad plug thing is ugly.
Ok, back to racing. Where is the best power on the eeelo 440 with the Sting pipe. My literature suggests 7500 for the early models and 7800 on the 79 and 80 Stings. Do you think all the Sting and TK pipes were the same? What about that Range Whip, is that a standard Whip exhaust?. Has anybody ever actually used a Dyno?
I think some of east coast guy's are running them at 8500 ?
On the cooling thing, I am thinking about a 12V squirrel cage fan and Pararailers trolling motor battery. Between heats plug it in, it would be better then standing there with a noisy ass leaf blower.
One more thing, what about picks ?

I think the sting and Tk pipes are The same with the exception of the angle where they meet the y-pipe. As far as rpm. I know this. 4 bolt 440 53hp at 8500 on engine dyno. Tough part is clutching to run that rpm in 300 or 500 ft. 6 bolt info is a little more classified. You need to come over and test with us sometime.
