I will have to look if I still have some of the black plastic replacements. I used to .

I just picked up an 80 sting for parts. The drive sprockets look exactly the same. Track is stock rubber, not a replacement. It looks to me that groove is cut by the guide clips. The lug flexes a bit and the metal guide does not, thus cutting into the sprocket. I replaced the drive cogs with the black replacements on my 80 sting rider.
I had an idea for replacement cogs but I have not tried it yet. Yamaha enticer drive cogs are 3.29 with a .850 square bore. My thought was you could open them up to the 1" round bore.

that will work. one of the guys i met on a vintage ride last year did that.he told me he did it on a mill and took 3 different cuts to keep it round. i had him make me a set for my 79 whip and they fit perfect. only cost me a case of beer.

This is what I used on my '80 Sting...Arctic cat hex hole drivers, 3.29 pitch.
Hex bore, 1.03"...30 thousands bigger than shaft (1").
I had to drill holes for the bolts.
I added two extra bolts.
Ensure that the drivers are squared up with the shaft and are also in sync with each other and bolts are loose.
I added steel pins length wise in the six "corners" of the hex.
Tighten bolts and recheck that they are still square.
I used JB Weld steel epoxy to fill in the gaps and also to hold in the pins in place.
So far I've got about 140 miles on them and all is good!
I have a replacement OEM track and these drivers don't ratchet.

So ideally use a older 1 1/8 scorpion shaft to tighten this up and mill the hole to 1 1/8? btw what was the part number of the artic cat sprocket? for that matter what is the part number for the Yamaha et driver?

I can't remember Cat's part number...I got it off of Ebay from someone who had N.O.S. parts.
Kimpex made an aftermarket one up until last year but no longer supplies them...part number 04-108-14 .
They also made one for John Deere part number 04-108-17 that would work with some modifications...their production was also halted last year.
Some of these come up for sale every once in a while on Ebay.
Happy hunting!

I found some early Yamaha SS440 3.29 drive sprockets. They are for a .953" hex shaft or something close to that. Just drilled the hub for the bolt and it was a push on, snug fit. I did put a hose clamp band opposite the bolt just due to habit. I think the Ovation also uses 3.29 pitch on the same hex shaft.
The 1980 JD liquefier is what used the 3.29 sprocket also.

I am thinking about adding a center drive wheel, as the drivers slip, even with a tight track. I hate to drill a hole for the roll pin anywhere near the center of the shaft, I am thinking that would cause it to break. This is a 80 Sting with Para Slide, rubber track. What can we do to make the drivers not slip? What about those anti ratchet wheels that drive on the cogs and the windows ? I bet they would be power robbers? Is there a fix, or do I need to fit up a Para Rail suspension and track. Just getting back to Scorpions after a long break. I need to revive and old thread since it is similar in topic to my question. I have an '80 Sting with a para rail suspension. The white poly drivers are cracked. I understand that is not uncommon. Is there a replacement of better quality? The track itself is original but in good condition. Just ordered parts manuals so I don't have access to part numbers yet? Any sources or recommendations ? Thanks in advance! ~ David

Hello usafrpilot.
Read the previous posts on this thread and you will find several options...any one will work.
I have a new old stock track and it runs well with the black plastic Arctic Cat drivers...no ratcheting.
These drivers' hex holes are 30 thousands of an inch bigger than the shaft!!! I would first try to find some tighter ones to fit on the one inch shaft. I got impatient and settled for the bigger holed ones and made them fit...have fun and enjoy the journey.
