yes i did glass bead the engine, frame and pararail. the suspension and frame are painted with a metallic that is the same paint code used on g.m. aluminum wheels.the engine got a very light coat of silver grill paint that is good up to 1000 degrees. i did the hood a while back with ddubs 73 stingerette flake.

That is a lot of work for a weekend, it looks great, and that old JLO all painted up is eye candy !
Man you guy's must have energy to completely disassemble a para-rail, drive out the shafts, paint and polish.
We took one apart once just to salvage a few spacers, pipes, and shafts. I grabbed a few pieces for spares, and my brother picked up the rest with a scoop shovel, and pitched into the dumpster. We swore never again to pound one apart.
Your going to have a brand new Scorp!
Are the ski spindle bushings plastic or steel on that 79 Whip ? The reason I ask is mine are steel and way worn out, wondering if plastic would be better?
Great job there oldscorpman.

Great job there oldscorpman. i have been working on these since they were new, i bought my first scorpion in 1972 i was i freshman in high school. because of knowing what a pain these were when only a couple of years old i learned a few tricks to speed up the para-rail disassemble now that there 40 years old. if the shaft is still strait carefully cut the spacer off. you can by the correct tubing at menards for $8.00 in 3 foot lengths to make new spacers. the rear shock/spring assm. and shafts use the electrolysis method of cleaning the inside of a gas tank, it takes a good day but it always has worked for me. as for the bushings for the ski legs mine are metal, i have bored some other sleds out in the past and pressed in an brass bushing. PARA-RAILER i wish i would be driving it next week. i am going to be dead in the water pretty soon as i have yet to find a good belly pan. rick
