It's an '87 Ski Doo Stratos...it's Canadian eh!
I chose this sled because it had a soft ride and that ugly duckling kind of looks.

The Stratus probably has a 503, my all time favorite motor. I put one in a 76 Whip, they really run!

Yes, it's a mdl # 503, 499cc. It's a nice engine but hard to pull over at -35. I first have to loosen the belt, heat up my propane torch inside the house, remove sparkplugs, heat pistons, cylinders and plugs with flame, prime it just right, cross my fingers and toes and pull like the dickens. I'm the only guy I know that can build up a sweat at minus 35! But NOW that I have the Sting, I'll just simply use it as my wife is not foolish enough to venture out on a snowmobile in those temps (she's the brains of this operation, I simply get by on charm and good looks).
ps. weverat, I love your signature!

I bought one brand new in 87. Very warm to ride and good power. I really liked it.

I bought one brand new in 87. Very warm to ride and good power. I really liked it. Yours might have been warm 'cus it had a barn door for a windshield.
Mine's probably faster 'cus it's got that stylish racing one!
A guy at my last vintage ride asked me, "What'd you do to your windshield?". I informed him that I kept hacking away at the ugly 'till it was almost all gone. I'm not sure if it looks better or worse than stock, wait, it can't possibly look worse!
