From what I can gather is that when Arctic cat took over the production of the Stings, they made a few changes. Some were to save money, as the Scorps were going to be their lower cost line of machines. Some changes were made to comply with the increasing pressures to produce a quiet sled. Some of this creates a lot of under hood heat...non insulated pipe and few vents. Seeing that I can do my own thing and not be restricted with all of this red tape, I've started to make some changes. I've enlarged the front belly pan openings and plan on increasing the hood vent sizes along with maybe adding an additional vent opposite the current one that was dealer installed.
I will not be running the "Cold air package". I'm opening up the rear area behind the hood for a flow through ventilation. The carb will have a Uni Pod filter.
I'm intending on heat wrapping the exhaust pipe if there are no consequences to the engine durability ie: overheating due to -----? Are engines engineered specific for insulated pipes or not?
Your input is appreciated.
