I'm working hard to get all the sleds ready. Should have two trailers full and looks like only two drivers. Roger and Erin. Just takes so much time to go through all these sleds. Hope they have a great event this year. We did also help sponsor this event to show our appreciation for all the hard work that goes into making this all happen. So, I'll be hitting up Bubanoz, Pararailer and you other Scorpion goofballs so don't forget your wallet! Oh, and who wants some maple syrup?

I wish you guys and gal all the best.
obj1, keep reminding the kids to be safe and to have fun.
75 Whip, I'm really quite envious. Racing combines both mechanical as well as driver skills. I've always had a certain amount of both, but have never put them to the ultimate test. At my age (58) and weight (---), it's not likely to happen. I'm happy for you that you're doing this before Ol' Father Time creeps up on you. Be safe and GIVE 'ER!!!
GO SCORPIONS !!!

Yes Rick, Jeff and I had a long talk about that. I decided to keep hanging back with the trophy girl and let the racers get all the glory.

Grass Drag 2016 Rip Roarin’ Willow Days Saturday August 6th will be RRWD this year! Test on Friday August 26th & 27th in Princeton, MN Douglas We are Saturday Sept 24 2016. Tony wants to do some kind of test and tune on Friday. The 2016 Twin Ports Vintage Fest will be held Friday & Saturday, September 23rd & 24th, 2016, at Dusty Flat Speedway, just North of Duluth, MN. This schedule has been stuck to the refrigerator since early spring. Ok, so the challenge is to dodge the mail box and hope for no important invitations. Turns out, one of my beloved nieces is getting married that same weekend, and I do not want to miss that. I will see you guy,s at Princeton for sure! Man, this is a tough one for me to miss, I have a new, never raced, purpose built, Scorp Grass Dragger. I am so anxious to run it against similar sleds. Which reminds me, I better get the winter events schedule onto the fridge, before the wife makes any plans.

My stand does not have sides either, but as long as it has a back you will be ok. The guys running big sleds with studs really need to cover up the back of the sled when on a stand and revving the engine.
Any good stand with a back on it will work. You certainly cannot have your buddies hold the rear of the sled up while you rev it up!
When racing on ice the protocol is real stringent, as all sleds are loaded with studs, and they really grip (almost no spin) on the ice, potentially very dangerous.
The same guys often run the grass drags, and like to use the same procedures.
I noticed at Princeton last year they were driving the sleds right up to the line, on ice we slide them to the line on a stand with the motor off.
My guess is they may have us use a dolly to move them to the line (we will see what the new promoter wants).
I always bring a dolly just in case I need to move a non running sled. Either way, the idea is to run whatchya brung and enjoy. Never question the promoter on race day, just show up with a sled and do your part to keep the vintage racing alive.
Oh ya, recently they have required chest protectors in all classes, I always bring an extra if somebody needs it.
The only bummer with drag racing is you need to finish 1st or 2nd in each race, or your eliminated ( load er up ! ) which sucks, so we always enter lots of classes.

Thanks weverat, i just did not want to show up without the proper stuff. I dont think these older lowe hp sleds being to dangerous on a stand. Im more scared of a clutch blowing apart than anything, i got a bunch of aluminum clutch gards this summer for all my sleds to be on the safe side

we have blowen 2 tracks. one on a 70 stinger single and one on a tk. Both let go on the rev stand thank god! Still, I think it would break your leg if it got out past the stand!

Yep, that is all I need to here, I am going to weld some sides onto my stand not to be legal, but to be safe.
Part of keeping this racing thing alive is making sure nobody gets physically hurt. Mentally, I will be working on OBJ again this year!
