I can only post 2 pics at a time, you have to click to make them bigger. The first one is a 1960 Harley Hummer built into a flat track racer, Bultaco tuner pipe, and a Cat EXT 340 cylynder head. The next is an old Bultaco Model #181 Frontera with home built twin carbs (2 into one)? I have not yet run this engine, or the twin carb set up although, I do have a good running Frontera to try it on. I am sure the performance would not be improved, it would be for novelty only. Anyhow, I love building or finding these old "Freak Engines"

ok, This one is a, or better yet, was a 370 Sachs, owned and built back in the day by a gentlemen named Duke French. Originally 79 x 75 fan cooled, now 85.5 x 75 free air! It has a Bultaco piston with extra long skirts welded on, and finger ports ground into the cast iron cylinder sleeve. Duke ran it on alcohol. I actually ran this engine in a Bubble nose chassis 20 years ago, with no hood and pump gas. It seized up about every 300 yards,as It just would not cool. I may have had a chance with alcohol, a hood, and some air scoops? Ol' Duke has become shop art for now, but maybe someday?

That's pretty neat stuff! I will admit I have seen a hole in a piston crown welded before but not skirt extensions!

Cool stuff...personally, I don't like extended skirts.

But is it a factory experimental thing, or did Duke make the modification himself? I have not taken it apart yet, but I think I have seen one like it somewhere?
Is this a Scorpion or Salsbury ?
