Okay read the isr rules for princeton this yeat, looks like classes are by engine size insted of letter classes. I emailed and asked about 71 and older, and they replied as of right now there is no 71 and older class. I asked about running a single class, and he said well see who shows up we can add classes, what do any of you guys know about princeton this year?

I haven't heard much. Seems anytime a different group comes in to run a race things change. With all the sleds that we run its always a struggle to comply with em all. so...we just show up and take our lumps!

Yup, Run whatchya brung. Enter your sled in as many classes as you fit, and have a helluva good time.
Ok,If you can avoid red lights, and manage to get your sled into the final, that is a victory! We are racing just for the fun.
Also it helps to bring more than 1 sled, this way if you fail to advance in the heats, you just try again in another class.
My E-stock sled also runs in D. Sometimes they run letter classes from the top down, this way the stock D becomes a practice run, sometimes I get lucky and advance to a semi. But if your E-stock sled were to win in D ?, your in trouble.

Running for fun? At Willow the D-stock cash was great and the trophy was big! But I sure do like the E stockers too. Nothing sounds as good as a 440 JLO screaming down the track!

Dido, I love them damm old JLO's too! But, I do not know why. They are a pain to work on, and the base gaskets almost always leak + they are notorious for burning pistons.
The 4 bolt motors have too small intake and exhaust ports. The 6 bolt motors have descent exhaust, but the intake is way too big and wide?
Those damm things are a mess
What I do like is the fact that they all use the same bottom end.

Looks like Princeton grass drags will be run by NDRS ? Who the hell are these guys? Are they into vintage racing, or do they run modern racing events?
I see you have to pre-register in order to avoid a $20 fine. Really, we are the entertainment, and we pay admission, pay race entry fees & insurance.
If you get there Thursday night, it sounds like they will let you in, but only between 5:00 and 9:00 pm and you get to pay a $50 fine.
If I race with out pre-registration I qualify for another $20 fine.
Fukin A skippy, this sounds like fun already!
Now throw in a couple speeding tickets and an open bottle to top off a FINE weekend.
I hope they keep it simple.

weverat, your last post is exactly what I was thinking when I started this post, willow this year was my first grass drag as a participant so I don't feel like i got a pot to piss in when i comes to being a critic, but yea is this the start of the end to vintage racing at princeton? I know they have gone through a couple race directors (if that's what they are called) in the last two years, Im just wondering if i go race what to expect. I was looking forward to a 71 and older class, maybe run the 72 again? going to to be interesting I may just watch this year, and see how it turns out.

No, I was just ranting, actually it all works out, does not really matter who runs the races.
Definitely bring a sled, enter some races and have fun.
We have found it necessary to be ready to make a few adjustments, as all promoters run things a tad different. Sometimes the promoter will make changes from year to year (continuous improvement). We do not really give a shit, we are just happy to make a few runs.
Also, if there are 4 or 5 guys that want to run similar sleds, they will make a class. Just get registered early, and talk to the guys.
Otherwise you could run a 71 and older 440 fan in E stock, and maybe F ? OBJ will help us enter the right classes. He will even loan you a nice broke in super trick drive belt
The normal71 and older class was open to anything older than 71, so you wind racing against 3 cylinder Super Stingers etc.
My 71 and older sled is a single cylinder sachs Mark 11, it never had a chance in that class.
Your running a 440 Sachs twin in a 71 Wedge, is that right? That would be a perfect E Stocker

Ya it sucked bad! I hit my pillow at 4:30am and up at 6:30 to sneek out before they hit me for another thousand bucks for "camping". We were broke, tired and pissed off when it was all over. Scorpions were well represented and did very well over all. E-stock, F-stock and G-stock were all scorpion wins. We had a TK in the coveted D-stock final only to red light. Scott Nelson had a mod Tk run 2nd in a free air mod class and the sidewinder was 3rd I think in mod stock open. I say I think cuz by 2am I was so tired I didn't care anymore! I watched the final sleeping standing up and I think he was 3rd. They left a pile of plaques laying on a table so if 1 is still there its ours. Last year the vintage and new stuff worked ok together. This year was bad. Real bad. My sad opinion is that if vintage does not run by itself of Friday night, its over for us at Princeton. I will give anyone a chance, but there is no fixing this with 80 plus races in 1 night! cant be done. We had people take a day off work to come and watch and had to leave before we even ran! I maybe crabby cuz I'm still tired, but we race vintage to have fun and hang with nice people and not have to pay hundreds, yes hundreds of dollars to get in the gate, the pits, the starting line, the insurance plan and "oh, will you be camping tonight" sir.

Yes, The promoter dropped the ball bigger than shit at this race. Still had a great time. Always good to hang out with Bubba, Obj, Roger,Ashley, and the Nelson crew.
My E-Stocker ran about even with OBJ's F-Stocker, so we still have work to do. I had enough to make the final in E, but also red lighted. That happens once in a while, that is why we always enter more than one class with each sled.
As it worked out for me, the heat race was around 8 pm, and the final for E-Stock did not happen till 1:00 am, heck, I was in the bag by then!
It was a darn nice lighted track, and good racing!
The next event for us is the Great Southern Grass Drag in Douglas,MN. Which is only a 1/2 hour from home, we will probably camp any how.
This will be a good race for sure, as I know the promoter, and Tony has NEVER let us down.
