Just wanred to start a thread on bad experiances buying online. Is it just me or do alot of you have problems when you see a old sled, motor, parts on craigslist or any wesite like that, you reply to the add and either get no reply from the seller, or you get the guy who plays games with you, and never works out a time to meet or come over, i have tried to buy a couple sleds this fall yea scorpions, and needless to say i never was able to get any of them for these reasons. Is this common with the vintage sniwmobile world, what have you guys delt with?

Thats par for the course with anything on CL. I've been trying to sell a truck on there for a month. All I get is people wanting to trade stereos and RC cars.

I guess i may just be venting, but i guess what kinda really set me off was the last time i was going to buy somthing on craigslist, the seller did not want to meet at his house, but kept insisting we met up at some bar ouside of the town he lived in. I dont know i backed outa the deal, and the guy got all mad at me kept sending me emails calling me a deadbeat, and lowlife thing like that. Im still new to the vintage sled thing i was wondering ifvthus stuff is common

Oh yea I learned that the hard way, about one year ago I seen a posting for a scorpio. A 1976 red range whip. no number add said leave number. So I replied said im interested left number. No reply. A week latter I figured maybe i need to write more to make it look like im serious. So I write im intersted asked if the track is in good shape. asked when i could come look at it. he said it had not ran in two years so i asked if he drained the gas before he let it sit, and i know I wrote more questions but cant remember, but I left my number again. still no reply. so I gave up. A couple months later the add is reposted. $150 cheaper. so I replied again said im am interested could he please call me. No reply. Now I was getting mad so I emailed him again, and said hey I have tried to contact you several times now, and you never get back to me. If you sold it please remove the add and at least let me know. Well couple days latter i finally get a reply. "yep still got it" that was it. So i replied okay? ? try calling me. Nothing for a week. SO i when i finally get his email he replied "So if you are truly interested in this snowmobile you better let me know right know so I know i am not wasting my time on some idiot who has no interest in buying it in the first place! Well I replied I have told to I am interested and left him my number several times, and I dont know what his problem was, but told him he sounded like a real prick and was not sure i should buy anything from him. Now I copied his email so im writing down what he said here """sir I have tried to contact you, and when i called you the f#%$@n number was disconnected (not true I checked all the old emails right number) and i don't appreciate you writing to me bitching at me because i didn't respond to you, yea I remember you, you are the idiot who was asking me all the stupid questions. I have been selling motorcycles, and parts for over 20 years now, and I can tell a deadbeat from the first time they respond to me. Your are truly a little f#$%N piece of S%$t who has nothing better to do than sit on craigslist, and wiast other peoples time knowing you are could never buy anything, because your wife wont even let you buy a can of pop without her permission, got to hell you little f#$in P#$%Y. good day sir!"""" Wow I never responded back but maybe I should just find a different hobby lol

well I know I know I stopped selling things on C.L. due to the fact i found it so much easier and enjoyably to sell at swap-meets. I know I tried to sell a motor home one time on there and got nothing but tire kickers, and joy riders looking at it, and i mean the low balling, anyway I got tired of dealing with it took it to the local auction house, and ended up getting more than I was asking for it on C.L. Sounds like the guy sells a lot on there, but in my opinion maybe he should not be selling stuff in the first place if people get him worked up like that. I remember that sled it was in st. cloud? I think it had a 440 in it instead of the 400? I have been looking for a range whip for a couple years now, I had one just like it, But yea he had no number to call. I only respond to adds with phone numbers, but then it sounds like he got under your skin a little bit too? ???lol
