I want to remove the flywheel from a cuyuna 440.I think one of the points sets is done. The bolts I removed from the flywheel recoil cup are marked as as shown in pic .I am not sure if these are imperial or metric.I have to get longer bolts about 2" to use my puller.Anyone have an idea.My other motor uses the eaton recoil and has capscrews so i cant get info off of them either. Thanks Kerry

I dont have a tap or die that matches but I do have a thread gauge. 24 tooth imperial or 1.0 metric seem to be very close.I'm thinking #12-24.I have a 6-1.0 metric which is close in dia but not working with bolt.A #7-1.0 seems too large a dia.Guess I will have to go to the depot and see if i can find a nut that will thread on and go from there. Thanks for the reply oldscorpman. It seems nothing I have for my rupp stuff is useful for the wife's scorpion. Kerry

They are metric, but I do not remember the size and pitch. Bring the JLO right into Home Depot, or Fleet Farm. Grab a cart from the parking lot and throw it in there. OBJ taught me this trick!
Now if I could just get him to give up the perfect base gasket thickness for them TK's!

I'm pretty sure its a 6mm bolt, seems like the longest you can get are 40-45mm. I made my own puller, and used the 45mm bolts, pops right off

They are metric. When you buy the bolts get the black allen headed bolts. I don't know what grade they are but they work. also, get a HD puller and tighten puller flat aginst flywheel. used impact wrench and it will pop right off. 1 other thing, Weverat is full of B.S.

Thanks guys, and lucky me home depot here decided to clean out a large portion of there loose bolts and nuts and downsize there available stock so I will have to either go to Brafasco or Fastenal. obj1 I have a puller but it wont be flat against the flywheel.Matter of fact it is identical to the one in zdenterprises' catalogue less any usable bolts.I figure the bolt length will have to be at least 1 3/4 long to fit everything if not a smidge longer. Hi Kerry.
Like obj1 said, those black allen head bolts are very strong.
They're a metric class 12.9...equal to a grade 8 imperial.
Those are what I used to make my fan housing bolts.

A puller that is flush against the flywheel works best because it pulls dead straight. It takes a lot more effort to pull them off when your puller isn't pulling evenly. Also a greater chance of the bolts breaking.

OK guys.I found the bolts, metric 6 mm x 1 is the right size.I got the 45 mm length. Will use what I have as a puller and be slow about it.Pretty much the same as I had to do to my kohlers.Cautiously optimistic! Kerry
