Ok, got my 80 whip with paraslide running, wow is it snappy......the cleated track really hooks up in the snow and as OBJ says I had to tighten my chin strap!!! The cleats arent in the greatest shape, but seem ok....here's the question, I heard that you can run a regular pararail track on the longer paraslide skid...anyone else heard this or tried it? I wondered how much drag there would be, no holes in the track to let snow in to lube the slides? Does it make a difference? I'm going to be running this sucker on ice ovals primarily and some trail riding.....any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am thinking the cleated track is the best for ice oval racing.
If you were to convert to a rubber track, I suppose you would have to use the Para-Rail suspension.

I'm just concerned that the condition of my cleated track is only so-so......plus if I put picks in a rubber track, it would really hook up. I'm told that the rubber track will fit on the paraslide skid, and supposedly work on it.....I just wonder how well.

Ya, I here ya, sounds like a lot of friction between the hifax and the rubber track.
My cleated track sleds usually wind up with a bunch of new rivets, and then I keep an eye on it, and keep adding new rivets as needed.
The good thing about the cleated track is they hold studs really good, nice and stiff, no flex. Our old Stinger tracks have way to much flex, and the studs seam to want to fold over under power.
The other thing about the oval racing is you need 10" racing carbides. They are expensive. The last ones we got from Woodys were $120. Lately, I have been finding used ones at the swap meets, sharpen with a green wheel (Woodys sells the carbide sharpening wheels, about $15).
These carbides come off serious race sleds, and are good enough for our little 45 hp racers.

Problem with the pararail tracks for ice oval is A. They are very slippery and B. With no windows they tend to float if you get in the ice chips at all. Then your studs come off the ice and around you go. Use a track with windows if at all possible if you want to actually race and not fight for your life to stay upright.

How difficult is it to find the cleated tracks? I've been pounding the snot out of the one on my machine now to see if its going to hold up, so far it seems solid.
