on my 70 scorpion mark II the hood is pretty beat up. between me driving it 3 years and my brother driving it 6 years it was on it's side more than once. i figure it will take 30 hours of fiberglass work before i even paint it. i have been looking for a nice 70 or 71 mark II hood to buy for 2 years now with not much luck. my question is will a mark III hood fit or is it wider because of the wider track.
thanks rick

If I don't have what I need,I will make other parts work.If I have a narrow track & can't find hood or whatever,I take a wide track part & take material out & fiberglass back together!! Example: I needed a rear compartment for one of my Rupp builds, didn't have one, took a wide track panel, cut 2" out of it & fiberglassed it back together. It's time consuming, but I work with the stuff I have in inventory!! I usually won't look a long time for stuff I need. This was a wide track rear compartment for one of my Rupps.I cut it down to fit a narrow track, then fiberglassed it back together.I took 2" out of it. Piecing it back together. I bolted it to the tunnel,to make sure it would fit. Back together,in prime, ready for paint. Fiberglass is fun to work on,so is steel.I would NEVER think of farming this out for someone else to do.This is part of the "hobby". Here it is on my latest build,a blue Rupp with 500 Hirth engine. The color is,blue Navy blue,I'm as blue as I can be,cause............................. Red just gets plain sickening after awhile!!! I really like to be different. If & when the hood gets done,it will be painted 3 colors, that's my plan anyway. Sorry if I highjacked the thread, but this is just one thing that can be done,if you don't have the parts, for a needed build. Thanks for the replies.

Another example of taking a wide track lower front panel & cutting 2" out of it,to fit a narrow track sled. After getting everything cut & fitted to sled, bolt it in place & start fiberglassing. I ALWAYS try & do the work,in place on the sled.Hopefully you get the idea of what can be done. I haven't had to do a hood yet, maybe some day, same as what I showed you here, cut, fit & glass!!!

Have a narrow track hood if someone needs one. Not perfect of course but could be repaired/restored.
