Just started rebuilding a 440 cuyuna engine. I honed the cylinder to install some new rings I was looking for a ring end gap spec and cylinder to to piston clearance spec but can't find any in the manual. Are there no max and min specs available except max piston installed deck height ? No run out on the crankshaft nothing .Were these the worlds best kept secrets? Hope someone can help

Hi speedbuff. The crankshaft run out is .003". Ring end gap rule of thumb for air cooled engines is 3 to 4 thou per inch of piston. When I got my cylinders rebored, my SPI instructions asked for .005" piston to cyl clearance. You can follow my rebuild in my thread. The guys here were very helpful and shared some valuable tips. scorpionsleds.proboards.com/thread/1522/hello-winnipeg-manitobaFeel free to ask more questions Rene

End gap should be .004" per inch of bore diameter. Fresh cylinder with new rings should be somewhere around .011 to .015. Max with worn cylinder/rings is .031 then go up to next oversize bore.
Piston clearance for stock cast pistons is .005-.010 I would give a little extra clearance to the PTO side due to the fact it runs hotter on that side.
Hope that helps.
