Ok so I bought a tk whip and took the engine out because the guy who had it before said he timed it wrong and it would backfire. So I got to th point where I’m trying to time it and im wondering if both of the marks on the flywheel are supposed to line up with both on housing. I know which marks are for which cylinder and also I can’t seem to advance the timing enough for the points to be wide open when the two marks line up. Thanks

If I remember right, the timing marks should line up just as the points open for timing and not when they're full open. That's the generic way from what I remember if you don't have a dial indicator to measure piston stroke.
