I have a 1971 scorpion stinger 2, i'm currently about 5 steps away from finishing the restore process (has taken 1 and a half years i have a small problem with my clutch though. i found the sled in a field, and when i found it the first clutch was seized, i worked on it and got it to work great, but now that i'm ready to use it a couple months later, it seems to engage way to fast. i looked up an assembly diagram and i've put it together correctly. Do you have any suggestions. thanks

Yes, those old scorpion clutches would engage just barely off idle. They need a stiffer spring, but sometimes a stiffer spring will bottom out and not allow the clutch to shift all the way out.
Ben a while since I played with one, but look for a spring, or maybe you can lighten up the weights a bit?
Can you post some pics?

I will try to post some pics, but would this be an actual benifite to my sled considering I'm building it for racing? Also how would I lighten the weights.

If your racing,I would use a comet 102, for trail riding use a comet 94 duster, they are easy to adjust.

Yep, that is the old Scorpion Rat Trap Clutch. The rollers get flat spots on them, and the spring is to weak. I have not had much luck finding a stiffer spring to fit, but maybe you can find something, and trim it to length?

My rollers luckily aren't flat, but still the spring is an issue. Thankyou for your help, and ill make sure to upload photos of the whole sled when I'm done😊
