A Scorpion Mark IV has been on my bucket list for a looooooong time. Unfortunately they don't pop up in Michigan, or at least not that I've seen. A couple years ago I finally bought a rough '69 and travelled to MN to pick it up. Thus far I've sandblasted the chassis and most of the other parts but haven't started putting things back together yet. So far my biggest stumbling block has been the track. My sled had the sprocket drive unit, which was shredded beyond belief when I bought the machine. I understand you can convert to the '70 involute unit, but in two years of 'wanted' ads I've yet to find one.
My question is, has anyone adapted their Mark IV to a different brand of track? I realize I'm not going to find anything else with the 23.5 width, but I'm curious if anyone has adapted to a 20" OMC track or anything like that? I recently bought a '73 Evinrude RC-35-Q specifically to steal the track and suspension out of, but thought I'd check on other options before I start modifying. I really want to put this old girl back on the snow!
Thanks! -Marc.
