In putting the info together for this, I have come to the realization that once I am done, the ability will exist to do things like query for all models that used engine such and such. I could take it further to query other things. For Scorpion early on, this might be useful, 75 and on, probably not so much ?
Anyway, I thought I'd ask the question how valuable this might be to people.
Also. . . Do people want the ability to provide contact info for their sleds ? Not the requirement to have to enter it, the ability to provide others the ability to contact them. I would probably restrict it to logged in users, but anybody can create an account right now.

Kevin, I don't consider myself extremely cautious with personal info, but I'd have to say that if the information was available to just anyone, I would not enter personal info.
Now if people had to "sign up" for an account AND they were somehow verified then I would enter my personal info. By verified, I mean that someone (probably you!) would have to verify that they were real people, and somehow that they are also enthusiasts not wanting to become a member for ugly reasons.
Recently on one of the sites people have been "becoming a member" and then posting garbage and lots of it.
Just my take on it.

This actually would be good information if we found large discrepancies to already published material for the bread and butter machines.
We already know there will be large discrepancies on the race sleds etc.

Well, I am very cautious with my personal info, so my decisions tend to lean to being cautious about it :-) I don't think I would want to take on the responsibility of account verification. I may put that in place, but there is no way I could know who is OK or who is not. Nor do I really want to build a heavily censored site like some are (you already know of one). Unfortunately, I will probably have to do some level of monitoring of what is added as I can't have free form notes and not pay attention to it. I'll think about it more along the way.

Kevin, Maybe the information can be behind the scenes?
So I put my sled up, and my contact info, but the reader can't see who's it is. Someone wants to discuss something with me, they push a "contact owner" button and a pm or email is sent with their info.
I then have the choice of discussing my sled or not. If it is OBJ1, I can choose not!
I would think this could be done?
saves you time administrating.

OK folks. Got a lot of stuff done for this. Some pretty cool stuff if I do say so myself. www.vintagescorpion.comI have some work to do on the 1971 Super Stingers, but most of the stuff is there. I haven't figured out what I am going to do for Parailers oddballs yet, but I'll figure something out. I guarantee there are going to be some errors / bugs to start. I added as much validation as I thought I could. Take a look, play with it and let me know of anything you find that isn't working right, isn't correct with the data or you think I just plain missed. look at the engine details. I need to add more to the various motors especially the early 70's ones. I need to find that info to add it though. I also added some sleds I had from an old dealer manual I had. The info only contained model and serial numbers. I put them in as 1980's, but I really don't know if they were technically 80's or 81's, hopefully when there are some more numbers I can determine if there was a difference It will help if you can create an account before you enter data. That way if I get "editting" implemented later, you will be able to edit the sleds you add. Down the road I will add some "searching". Sleds that have a certain engine, sleds that have a certain suspension, etc.

I have made a bunch of updates to the site, but the one that I need feedback on is the Custom Registry I added. It is linked to the Registry page for now.
I added the ability to add as many photo's as you want. There is a cool slide show on the details page for each custom. Right now I added a brief summary of my custom whip as an example. If all goes well, I plan to add this same functionality to the stock sled registry too.
Pararailer, get out there and and some of your Frankensteins. !!
