I am getting ready to drill out a custom engine plate for my scorpion. I am going to use a comet102 clutch with a 73 chaincase and secondary. Does anyone know if the offset should be the standard 3/8" when using this clutch. I know that the belt that would be used for a comet is wider than a standard scorpion belt but from what I have been told a narrower scorp belt will work. Maybe I should use a wider belt? Will the wider belt work with the scorp secondary? I want to machine the slots and drill the holes correctly the first time. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Obj1 would definitely know this. But I just put a 102c in my 75 and used 3/8 offset and the 1 3/8 scorp belt and it seems to work fine. I know the comets work with different size belts. They say there adjustable from 1 1/4 to 1 3/8. What difference would a narrower belt have? Also a question about comets calibration chart. It says what Springs and weights go with each sled. Is this chart accurate? and if so. It says most of the scorpions in the 400 to 440 size motor take a silver spring and b1 arms. I can find silver springs but cant find b1 arms. I've also heard some stuff about an elusive white spring. we need help from the great obj1!

Keep the off set the same. A std belt will work fine with a 102c. Shim washers under spider will adjust belt clearence. Also keep center to center the same. If your building something custom, why not use a newer chain case so you can adjust for belt deflection.

Thanks for asking Bubbanoz. We are discussing Brainard and duluth. Worried about the lawn tractor racing and all the other stuff from last year. Otherwise, Wausau WI is on the 29th. We won the coveted Wausau Cup last year and will try to keep it this year. Great people and super track.

I think I have it figured out. Bubbanoz has some awesome machining skills and I need him to make the slots in this stainless engine plate. I had to angle the one side of it to push it over to the right so it would align with the drivin clutch at a 3/8" offset. I hope that the standard scorpion size belt is the best option for this comet 102 and scorpion secondary! Im running a 440RX sachs. A friend told me the belt he uses on the same combo was a little different than a scorpion standard size but it sounded like he wasnt sure how much. clutching is so important. I just want to get it right.
