Just out of curiosity.
I picked up a 70 stinger hood at Haydays.
The emblem says it was a Mark IV.
Two interesting things about this hood.
First it is a red metalflake hood. Mark IV's were black correct?
Second, this hood does not have vents in it. I thought all Stingers had vents.
It has the "hirth" bump also.
So, How styles of stinger hoods did Scorp make in 70?
What I know. "Standard Hood" No bumps, with air vents, not free air. Sachs engines "Hirth Hood", bump on pto side with air vents. Not free air. "Free air" hood (race only correct?)
Now Hirth without vents?
Fill in the blanks as need be!

I went through David's site looking at the 70 brochures before posting this. I found it interesting that most of the sleds pictured were black hood sleds. Not many Stingers. Lets face it a "normal" stinger is not rare and I think a lot of us think of the big red flake when we think of Scorpion. For what it is worth, the guy I bought the hood from said it came off of a 18 inch track sled (mark III more than likely). I gave him my number to call if he came up with the mark IV. I wish I had taken his number now so I could have prodded a bit.

That hood is really not a stinger model. A 70 stinger hood wont fit on a 71 super stinger. but the hood you are talking about will. mark III or mark IV are widetrack hoods and will go on a 71 super stinger.

OBJ, Yes I know that sled of yours, but wasn't sure the hood was original!
Because not much is!
But I see it is a stinger hood without vents.
So, why a stinger hood with vents and one without?
I am beginning to wonder about Scorpion! LOL

I actually wasn't sure if the hood size was different. So they are. That actually makes this a bit more believable as to why a different hood. Pararailer, if it's red metalflake, it's a stinger!!!!!!!!! Soooo pararailer. How much will you give me for this rare and beuuuutiful hood to put on the crazy cheap super stinger chassis that you bought from me? ;D
