the sheave angles are slightly different on a typical comet 102 than the angles on a scorpion secondary. I was told that possibly there were some comets used on sled brands that had the same degree angle that a scorpion uses. maybe JD or chaps?? anybody heard of this? Seems like this would be pretty important so the belt being used would have the same contact with both clutches.

I just picked up a comet secondary that mounts on a 1" jackshaft. it is nos and seems to have the same sheave angle as my comet102. I need to get a device to measure the angles to be sure.
I am going to get some 11gauge steel plates laser cut to hold this jackshaft and clutch to the tunnel. I will base the plate size on a scorpion case bolt patern. I can use the same existing bolt positions on the tunnel to set it up
I want to mount a modern dirt bike or maybe go cart type hydrolic disk brake right on the drive shaft. Similar to Craigs range whip. then on the other side I want to use a motor cycle chain with a open case and a modern chain tensioner. Alot of fab before the snow flies but I think I can pull it off!

My dad gave me some good ideas, I think i would be better to mount the brake caliper to the tunnel under the jackshaft and put the disk on the jackshaft. It would be easy to adjust the position of the caliper that way and weld it down to the top of the gas tank.
