Just got an 80 whip 440! Having starting issues! Almost always goes on 1st pull. Then will run for 20 minutes or idle for 5 then bogs down & won't restart for 20 mins! Plugs are good but not sure about old gas in tank! Blowing lot of oil out of. Exhaust! Is there an additive I can use to clean everything out?

When it quits, check for spark on both cylinders. It sounds like how an external ignition coil behaves when it goes bad. Works fine till it gets hot, then loses spark.

Do what scrorp11 says. Also, Drain that old gas out of the tank. Get some fresh gas and mix it properly with two stroke oil and try it again. You never want to run a two stroke engine on mystery gas! Good Luck!

Stingerator hit the nail on the head, always new fresh gas. If the gas is more then 8 weeks old siphon it out and put it in your truck. I mean real gas, not moonshine. 91 ethanol free.
I have a set of spark plugs with the gap opened up to .080 I use to check for good spark. It should jump that much and still be a nice blue spark, if not your condensers are suspect.
Oh the other thing, I do not use resitor stile spark plugs, or caps, not sure if it makes any difference.

supposedly you can get by with running resistor caps or resistor plugs, but if you run both, you may not have enough available voltage to jump the gap.
Typically we run none resistor caps and plugs. NGK 5K ohm resistor caps are often on some motors and they haven't caused us any issues. Don't run the 10K ohm ones. Run B8ES / B9ES and not BR8ES / BR9ES plugs. The R designates resistor.

My 79 did the same I did lots of thing cause there are lots of possible reasons I even switched to none resistor plugs still ran the same this I rebuilt carb including replacing rubber damper on flange put new seals and gaskets, timed if replace internal ignition coil and externals. Happend to notice a little puff of smoke come from carb when priming after it died after running Took of carb put on a mikuni vm36 runs great now. I think the puff came from where throttle lever goes in carb. I'm assuming it was letting air in through there. And throwing air fuel mixture of not letting it run. It's great now. Replace the carb those walbro are super finicky if not perfect

I keep seeing where people replaced the isolator on the flange of their walbro wf carburetor. Can I get those anywhere? I can't seem to find them anywhere, and I'm not sure what to do. Mine is dry/ loose and doesn't seem to seal. I don't want to burn up my engine, but I'm not sure how to fix it. Thanks for your help!
