Did you first spray it with a filler/ primer?

first you sand the hood down with 320 grit and make any repairs to the fiberglass, then its 3 coats on black tinted primer/sealer.next wet sand with 320 grit, next lay down 2 coats of flat black base coat and wet sand with 400 grit. you then mix the flake into clear top coat and need to have a nozzle on your gun for flake. i took my gun in to our local paint supplier and he matched up a nozzle. put down 3 coats of flake, then 3 coats of just clear. wet sand with 600 then 1000 and 2000 grit buff out and polish. it takes about 30 hours total.
