I received the following message and wanted to share it,
For your information all parts: castings, gaskets, parts kits for the old Cuyuna Engines and 2si engines are now exclusively available at ZDK Enterprises, who is the exclusive licensed distributor for these products. Look for rebuild kits, including crankshafts and lower half's coming this year. Roger Zerkel and Walt Cuppetelli have purchased all of the intellectual property, patterns, tooling and assembly equipment, the Easton Dynamometer, test stands, and all sourcing for all parts. We look forward to bringing this long established line back with after market parts, assemblies and will display at exhibitions in the future. If you have any responses or questions feel free to contact me directly at 586 741 9128. WE WANT THE LEGEND TO LIVE ON!!
Roger and Walt

Thanks, very interesting. Was this just recently? So are they making more engines for aircraft?

Thats good to know. I wonder who owns the rights to the JLO singles. Would be nice if they made new parts for those engines again.

I emailed these questions:
I have a few questions from members at the scorpiontalk.com site: Do you have a website? Are you making more engines for aircraft? Who owns the rights to the JLO singles? “Would be nice if they made new parts for those engines again.” Regards, Brian

Received this response:
Hello Brian,
Roger Zerkel and I own all the JLO/Cuyuna/2si/AMW rights, tooling, IP property, and critical machinery. We plan on offering parts and rebuild kits for complete bottom halfs, gaskets, pistons, etc. It will probably be late summer before we are up and running with the program. When I say bottom halfs, thats a complete NEW crank kit. We also have all of the patterns for all cast parts, and you wont believe this, the original JLO patterns with JLO/Scorpion etched on them.
We are certain there is a market for OEM parts. In terms of the aircraft, that's out of the question, but we will provide parts for the engines. That decision is a result of the past legal problems.
When we are ready, we will probably do some advertising and be at some key exhibitions/shows. Keep us in mind, would really like become part of the industry.
Regards,
Walt Cuppetelli

From: ZDE [mailto:zde@frtci.net] Sent: Thursday, February 19, 2015 3:11 PM To: staff@scorpiontalk.com Subject: Cuyuna engines and parts info My partner, Walt, forwarded a copy of your correspondence and I thought I might respond, as well. I have been associated with the Cuyuna Engine Company as an independent distributor for well over 20 years, mostly supporting the engines used in recreational applications, specifically, engines used in aircraft. My company is Zerkle Diversified Enterprises, LLC, located in Flat Rock, IL. After 2si stopped supporting and manufacturing aircraft engines, we continued providing parts and technical support independently. When the company closed their doors, we purchased all of the remaining engine parts, and later, along with Walt, purchased all of the rights and intellectual property. Spare parts can be purchased through us by calling 618-584-3567, fax at 618-584-3569, or email at zde@frtci.net. We have a web site with pictures of many of the more common Cuyuna/2si engine parts. Our web site is: www.zdenterprises.net . Business hours are Tuesday through Friday, 9 am until 6 pm, and Saturday 9 am until noon, CST. Our intent in purchasing Cuyuna, was to be able to continue to supply spare parts and to re-introduce the next generation of Cuyuna engines, using their patented multi-fuel technology. However, we have to learn to crawl before we attempt to run. The task of relocating, the sorting through years of data, and re-connecting with vendors is going to take some time. We do have a reasonable inventory of spare parts in our inventory at the present time and expect to start to add to that inventory within the year. In the meantime, I would be happy to answer any questions, give technical assistance, and provide spare parts. Sincerely, Roger Zerkle ZDE, LLC 618-584-3567
