As I have started putting some miles on the 1980 tk 340 I have twice now fouled a sparkplug starting the little devil .Its always the mag side .It has b9es spark plugs in it and I THINK IT SHOULD HAVE B8ES PLUGS IN IT IF MEMORY SERVES ME CORRECTLY? If this keeps up maybe I will put one 8 in and a 9 in the hotter pto side .Short of that it runs flawlessly ! Its a joy to see my kids and even my wife (for old times sake she says but I saw the gleam in her eye )drive it around Any idea's

We run 8's on the Mag and 9's on the PTO to keep the PTO side a little cooler. 7's might be a little hot for the PTO side. What oil ratio are you running ?

Run the 8's and if you want to spend a little more go with a B8EG or EV plug. I have a set I have been running for 3 years and no problems. Or you can use the champion equivalent to the B9ES. Its heat range is right between the NGK 8 and 9.

Running about 25:1 right now but intend to lean it out as I start using the sled a little more .Plugs are cheap and so is oil pistons and crancks are expensive!! This sort of confirms what I suspected .Weird though I never ran anything but b8 es plugs back in the day .Very seldom ever had to replace a plug maybe 1 or 2 per season
