that looks like a '79 based on the decals, the high back seat is not very common on any i have seen, and i have so far only seen those on '79's, but it was a option on the '80's, so some have to be out there, and that seat looks to be in very good condition based on the limited view in those pictures
the '81's were pretty much just '80's sold the next year as new from anything I have read
the '81 literature showed them as looking exactly the same as the '80's, lending credence to what i was told and read

Here is a seat on a 80' The one in the ad looks to be a '79 based on the seat, the tunnel decal and the hood decals. Obj1, yours is a 79. The tunnel is anyway. The way I know yours is definitively a 79 is by the rivets that are used. 1979 Scorpions all had the all aluminum Huck type rivets in the tunnels. in 1980 they were pop riveted together. So, if you ever want to know if its a 79 or an 80, look at the rivets. Ski's / leaf spring / seat / hood decals were all different, but someone can change those. Not likely they changed the rivets on the tunnel. Or just look at the serial number an it will start with a 9 or a 0. I have never seen a Whip / TK / Sting with a serial number starting in 1. That leads me to believe those who said all the 81's were carryover were correct.
