I need to get some more cool air under the hood of my Custom Whip and cutting a hole in the hood is not an option. About the only way I can see of doing it without that is taking the headlight out. Since I trail ride this thing, I don't want to have no headlight in case we ride at night. So, I was thinking of building a wire frame type mount and putting in a smaller headlight. Problem is I don't know how small I can get one that still produces reasonable light. This one has a 60w bulb now I believe. The opening is roughly 7 1/2 x 5. The smallest motorcycle headlight I have is 6 x 3 3/4 but has no mounts so that will take up more space. Anyone have any ideas ??

Massey Whirlwind 340 has a dual headlight. My dad has one. The hood has a huge opening that would be perfect for a free air engine or just one headlight. It must be bright with Two. On your sled Scorp11, will a standard round bubble hood type light allow more air flow if it could be mounted sunken in there a little? It may look cool and still would be scorpion stlye. They have em at NAPA.

You did a nice job on the grill below the headlight.

what about holes just below the bumper to let in air? similar to the later TK's ?
also why not mount those modern small lights on the bumper and take out the headlight altogether and put a grill similar to the one you have in the bottom?
or put in that grill work and mount the smaller high output ones somewhere in the new grill work?
the '71 wedge and '72 headlights from the Superstingers are a bit smaller as well, but would leave a smaller area to let air in, but more than what you have now

The holes below the bumper on the TK's really didn't help much, they still ran hot under the hood. There are two openings for your hands to grab the bumper, I considered adding a small scoop to them. In the end, I think the cool air needs to come in above the pipe to help cool much. My lightweight Sting is going to have vents put in everywhere. There will be cool air under the hood of that thing.
