For me the vintage sled stuff is mostly about the fun and unique ride, and less about the "collection". I realize many of you are more about the collection and less about the ride.
So- I am wondering, how many of you are:
1) More about the fun/unique ride, less about the collecting.
2) Or- you love the collecting and rebuilding. And miss winter already, and are trying to keep busy on a vintage project...
If you are tinkering on a project, what is it? Mine is a non-Scorpion project and I'm trying to turn three sleds into a one nice one. It is a project for me and two other buddies this summer (when fishing sucks).
What say you?

i love riding my modern and vintage sleds. i put on 3000 miles a winter average on my modern and hope to put on 300 miles on my scorpions with the vintage rides. that said i love restoring them almost as much. it's my hobby, i have done 4 old cadillac convertables, a 53 chevy pick-up and a 72 cutlass convertable since 1976. i have found sleds to be eaiser on the pocket book and instead of 2 years on a car i can do a sled in 6 months.

I collect em to ride and race. the more the better. (I only got so much space). right now im working on getting 3 scorps ready for the grass drag season. im guna run a 70 stinger with a 370 sachs. a 71 stinger with a 440 sachs. and a stock 75 super stinger 400. keeps me busy, and its not very expensive. I raced nitro rc cars before doing this, and that was way more expensive. riding is defiantly better than collecting garage puppy's! anyone wana by some used rc stuff?

I am only building things to ride anymore. And I don't think I'll build anything "stock" anymore either. Building custom stuff to is more interesting to me these days.

I guess, I like to tinker and the "good" snow season here isn't all that long. Many would probably say that I more enjoy the fixing.
I enjoy riding, but being in my shop is just relaxing for me. Building is more the actual fun than riding for me I guess. Don't get me wrong, I like to ride.
I have no interest in showing. Been there, done that with cars.
I would say that most of my projects will or have been somewhat modified. But there have been some and I have some more that will be stock. It all depends on the sled and it's condition along with the desired outcome for that project.

Most everything we have we ride, with only a few exceptions, the 69 Mark I. it is in nice original survivor condition, but has that lousy rubber track with the sprocket windows on outside edge of the track, and the internal steel tank, we will likely never drive that
the 2 '71's the Stinger III, and Super Stinger will get only limited driving
the rest are all getting driven, but we have so many now, even driving everything means not everything will see a lot of miles

I really can appreciate that Man!!! 3000 miles on a sled in a season is huge! (curious about those cadi's, I'm into cars right now!)

hey pararailer, 3000 miles is less than i did 10 years ago, when i was 45. now that i am 55, 200 miles a day is about it. i use to buy a new sled every 2 years when i drove 2 strokes , but now with the 4 strokes i have 22,511 miles on my 2006 arctic cat panther. i save 5 days vacation for winter so i can take fridays off and go for 5 -3 day weekends in jan. and feb. plus some 2 day rides. here are some pictures from my back yard be fore a cadillac club ride. the dodge pick-up and the vette are not mine in the first picture the rest are.

Here ya go buddy! Even threw in some oak leaves! It should come out pretty good with some work to it. Paint the center black. One front corner is a little bashed in but not to bad. Its nice that this one never had reg. numbers and license on it. I got this whole sled a few years back. the track is in one of mine, and the pararail from it is totally rebuilt and test fitted but yet to be installed in a 71 superstinger. The seat that was on it went to OBJ1 on a different sled I traded to him. I could go on and on!!
