All that's left is the Sears sticker on each side. Now all I have to find are some grass drags!

I did find all the parts I needed using a Google search. The gas cap and intake silencer came from the Scorpion Farm in Connecticut The head light and rubber ring came from Remember When Vintage Snowmobile parts in Michigan. All the parts were brand new!

It has been a fun project. I took the cowl outside to paint, and of course a wind gust came through! I'll have to sand and paint it again.

I took the first ride today. It ran well. Now for the cowl paint! Here's a video of it running...

The old Trail-a-sled is about to go outdoors for a run. The skis should be on by tomorrow.

Who said you can't put a new style track in a 67 Trail-a-Sled?

Here's how the 1971 Stinger clutch and steering fit in the old 67. Had to make my own gas tank.

I'd love to have a big engine for it, but the 71 Stinger had a 340 CCW that runs good. I'll use that.

I forgot to mention that I have the front bumper, rear hand grips, and the rear storage box for the 1971 Stinger. I also have the clutches, engine, and drive train for the 1967. They are free to anyone who wants to pay shipping. Let me know if you want pictures.

Most of you will think I'm nuts...but here goes! I bought a complete, but rough 67 Sears, by trail-a-sled. I also have a pretty good 71 Stinger. I decided to put the two together this week. Guess what happened overnight! Yep... a rat sled was born. I extended the tunnel 5 inches to accept the new track and suspension. Welded the steering system on. Replaced the old steel chain case and put on the aluminum one. It's amazing how well things fit doing this! It's about time to paint it and put the track in. I do intend to bring it to next winters Scorpion home coming. Attachments:

That would be fun to try! I've never ridden on ice. All I do is get stuck in powder out here!

You're probably right about changing the whole chain case and clutch. How many can say they store their snowmobile on the shop wall??

I've never done a complete tear down like this old timer is getting. I hope it turns out ok! I'm putting my 1971 Stinger suspension and track in it. Shoot...I may even put the 340 CCW in it also!

The drive train seems ok, but I have the engine apart now. It was froze up from sitting so long. It doesn't look bad inside. I hope I can find parts for it!!

I finally found an old "Scorpion" before they were called that! It's the sled I learned to ride on in the mid 60's. I can't put it on the registry because of the Sears numbers. Does anyone know how I can do this? I'm guessing it's about a 1967 model. It has the JLO 292 engine. The Sears model number is 813 658000. S/n 2778. Here's a picture I just took of it. Thanks

I have a complete and running 1971 that I no longer need. I can part it out. Let me know if you want pictures of the bogie system.
