hey pararailer, 3000 miles is less than i did 10 years ago, when i was 45. now that i am 55, 200 miles a day is about it. i use to buy a new sled every 2 years when i drove 2 strokes , but now with the 4 strokes i have 22,511 miles on my 2006 arctic cat panther. i save 5 days vacation for winter so i can take fridays off and go for 5 -3 day weekends in jan. and feb. plus some 2 day rides. here are some pictures from my back yard be fore a cadillac club ride. the dodge pick-up and the vette are not mine in the first picture the rest are.

i love riding my modern and vintage sleds. i put on 3000 miles a winter average on my modern and hope to put on 300 miles on my scorpions with the vintage rides. that said i love restoring them almost as much. it's my hobby, i have done 4 old cadillac convertables, a 53 chevy pick-up and a 72 cutlass convertable since 1976. i have found sleds to be eaiser on the pocket book and instead of 2 years on a car i can do a sled in 6 months.

on my 70 scorpion markII i had to heat it up and use my 20 ton press and bearing plate to get it off. i had to take the sheeve off to get to fit in my press.

just tore into my 73 ccw 400 rv engine as i am now starting a full blown resto on this sled and the pto side piston is junk. i know that these are next to imposable to find. i was able to find and purchase 2 nos right side pistons after only 20 minutes of on-line searching, but after 2 days i have yet to find any left side pistons. the part numbers are 37640000 for a complete kit or 37000600 for just the piston. my email is 7oldcadman@aol.com. take the 7 out of the email lots of spammers lately.
thank you rick

on the wide track sleds with the 18 " track you may use a 1971 or 1972 stinger III as a doner sled. i used a 72 to repair my buddys 1970 mark III back in the late 90 's. he still uses the sled for ice fishing today. also the center tubing on the narrow track boogies is the same from 1971 to 1973, however the left and right outside tubes you need to use 1971 stingers. for the front drive shaft and sprockets you can use the 71 stinger , 72 stingeroo,72 stinger or the 73 stingers. of course they must be the narrow track. the rear idler shafts and plates from 67,68,69 70 and 72 and 73 boogie suspenions are the same only the wheels and spacers are different. 71 plates are a little different but the shafts are the same. hope this helps.
