I am working on the pics pararailer I took pics of it with my new cell phone, and I'm having problems. I will get these up this weekend, been busy at work this week and have not had much time for the sleds. I will see if my sister and husband are going to the reunion they live in Crosby if not I may make a change of plains and go south to the snowbowl.

pararailer I was at the crowsnest last night the bar just up the road from your grandpas old dealership on knife lake there, and i had my scorpion hat on. There was a guy sitting next to me, I noticed he kept looking at my hat, and then asked me hey isn't that for those scorpion snowmobiles. I told him yea and I was into the vintage scorpion snowmobile addiction, and he started talking about your grandpas dealership He brought some scorps from your grandpa back in the mid 70's and knew all of them. I told him I knew you (grandson) and he was surprised how that scorpion legacy carries on. I was like yea your family is still in it I told about you obj1 and how you guys are still into them, and race them, and how it is just carried down through your family's over the years. I didn't get his name I just ordered a pizza to go had a couple beers and was outta there, but I just figured you guys would like that one.

I went to waconia the scorpion year 3 years ago I think. Man that is a big one. glad I brought my sled to that one to get around with. I never heard about the one in ostego Im going to look that one up, I have always wondered about the monticello frostbite days. I know a couple people that have gone there, and they said that's a big one. Thanks for the reply bubbanoz, and congratulations on the new house I got family that live over there that a nice area.

ddub thanks for the link. I forward that to my buddy. I never seen that on vintage sleds, but dident try to many key words. I still cant believe he brought it. sounds like he wants to bring it to the reunion. I'm not sure if i have ever seen one there or not. I just remember when he called me to tell me he brought a scorpion and said yea its a rare one I figured he got a bullwhip or something, yea I would have been jealous. then he told he he got a quad trac it took me a minute to remember what they where.

Sitting here this morning drinking my coffee and looking up when and where the vintage snowmobile rides or show are this year around my home here in east central mn. I got a few to go to close by. There is the new one started last year in Wahkon mn next weekend called snowfest 12/13/14. I think im going to go check that one out, and bring at least one sled to show anyway. The big sandy run on jan 1/10/14, but that's my sons birthday party so cant go, but I got the Tamarack mn ride 1/31/15 have not been to in a few years, but it was a blast. I got the jj's bowl ride in North branch on feb 14 And a choice of either a show/swap in lawler mn or the vintage ride in isle mn on feb 21st never gone to the lawler one but gone to isle a couple times, and that's a good ride with a good showing of sleds. And of course the scorpion reunion on the 7th and we scorpion guys love that one. There are two others by me going on the sameday as the reunion. The snow bowl in Ham Lake mn and the Milaca vintage ride at rough cuts bar on hwy 169, i have never been to either. These are the ones that i know of by me other than the long lake vintage racing races on long lake and rush lake.
Anyway I was just wondering no matter of where you live what rides shows or events do any of you know of that you would recommend anyone going to. What im trying to do is find more events that may not be listed on vintage sleds or other web sites. They had a ride in my home town last year, but don't see anything about it this year. Must not have had a good showing. So anyone please share any info you have on events.

Scorpion was not my very first sled, but my brother n law let me have his old 75 whip when he brought a indy trail and a pantera in 1990. The whip was my first reliable sled. I shot my first deer that year and used the whip to pull it out. I remember the Halloween storm in 91 driving it around with my buddy and his old free air colt, and drag racing up and down the 4 lane hwy by my house because no cars could get anywhere because of all the snow. I could beat any of my freinds in any race with it until one of them got a Txl. I think i put over a 2000 miles on it in the 4 years I had it. Man I drove that thing all over the place. I remember I was up north and passed up a guy on a new yamaha phazer I believe. Turns out he was trying to race me, and I dident even know I passed him up until i got to the edge of the lake a he was fliping me off and yelling at me. My older brother and brother n law saw the whole thing and where on the ground laughing about it. Gave it back to my brother n law when I was 16 dident do much riding after I started driving. He sold it a year or two latter wish i knew where it ended up, bacause It was in mint condition. Wish I new the serial number I would like to have it. Hope it did not get neglected. My best memories snowmobiling when I was a kid. Now I got another 75 whip and a few other scorpions just addicted to them. why scorpion? It was the only sled i had when i was a kid that always ran, and never broke down, pulled my freinds home when they broke down. Cant make memories when they dont work.

Wow going to sell it before you get a chance to show it off? Next time I need a metal flake hood clear coated I will just have to see if i can get it done for that price. Not worth doing myself if thats all it cost.

That sleds looks great good job on it. Who clear coated the hood for you? was it reasonable to have it done? It sure is a good feeling when you finish one of these and you get to stare at you work when your all done with a cold beer lol

A buddy of mine came across this the other day and had to have it. Being hes a motoski guy im surprised he brought it. Anyway he asked me what I knew about them. I have seen them and as far as I know they were made with the scorpion name but it was after Artic brought out scorpion. It has a sprint engine with it. with a 102 comet with it. Motor was with it not in it looked like they where going to hack something else in it at one time. Anyone know alot about these and where he could get parts if he will ever need them? Thanks

The boggie wheels are around 5 1/8" on those and are easy to come by, however the rear idler wheels on those are 7 1/4" and are hard to find if your looking for nos. Being you are in western pa im not sure if this helps or not but look on Minneapolis Craigslist. As of yesterday 11/28 there is someone who is parting out some 72 stinger II's and if he is willing to ship them maybe this can help you out. Good luck with your sled

admin thanks for the link to those older post. I know i have seen this before just could not remember where. If my memory is right the 34mm was on a Polaris single carb 440 Fuji. I believe the jets are 330 main 30 pilot and 159 Q0 needle. I think that was standard on the vm34. 6DH3 jet needle is what I should use for a single carb application if all my info is right from on here and my other notes I should be set to go with this. I'm going to go with what i posted here. weverat I remember having a old jlo 4 bolt head all apart a few years ago, and if i remember right the cyuna 6 bolt head had more ports in the cylinder, and the lower end was different i though the center seal was way different, and basically it looked like scorpion made it more beefy when they brought out jlo/rockwell. I melted down a cyuna in my range whip the seal behind the carb rotted out and it was sucking in air, and I pulled them both apart outta curiosity. so maybe a 340 jlo may require a smaller carb yet 30mm??? 32mm??? or maybe a tilly HD. I will keep everyone posted on how this comes out. Anyone please correct me if im wrong.
