I had the same exact problem with my whip, got it running good for a year and it started doing it again. Now im talkng about a walbro. I switched to mikuni, seem to run great, but I am in the middle of fixing the rear axel of the pararail right now. so have not got it out yet. Hated to do it but that damn walbro was starting to get to me. And im not sure why it was doing this either.

Im been watching a 1972 scorpion II that has been for sale over a year now. Its in paynsville mn and is on craigslist for $1000 It has been for sale for $1200 before I think on cl vs and ebay. so must be asking to much or one of us would have picked it up by now. I was going to get a one lunger for my next scorpion project. Now its in good shape but i see spider webbing on the hood, and it appears to have some surface rust. So with that I would want to repaint it. What do you guys think is a fair price for this?

Bill will you take a payment plain? lol I figured you would be able to land over $1000 all day long for that motor. ddub is right about sitting. I don't know the answer to this for sure but are these a chrome plated bore like the 634?? I think they are. if so may want to check that because if it is and that chrome is flaking off that's expensive to get replated. US chrome charges $260 to strip the old chrome replate with NiCom, and then it has to be ground and matched to the piston and rings going to be used.(oh and thats per cylinder) not sure if chrome plating is any cheaper or if anyone even still dose it, but just figured I would bring that up. Thats what I met by do some homework and research before anything.

Just remember once you go "single" you never go back.....
Lol Ill keep that in mind. My boys only one so far so im trying to get a few of these sled now before he gets into the school age. Im sure my free time will be a very rare thing by then. but thats part of being a father. Those montana pipe are rare I tried to find one when i had the 400. You should post that mark I stinger. Im guessing your using the stinger chassis due to the pipe and a mark I hood? what seat are you going to use? Like I said early in the post the 370 may not be a valuable as the ss or comps, but i got nothing against them. I see people sell the 340ss from $300-$500 on vs from time to time. I would just go with the 370 if I was in your situation too. Like to see how it performs with that pipe.

he did race in the long lake class it was 2006-2007 if i remember right but i have not talked to him for a few years now. He had kids i had a kid so things change when that happens lol. But yea my next scorpion I hope will be a one lunger. I have always wanted to race one. I have been watching a 72 stinger II with the 340ss for awhile now, but i think he wants a little to much for it right now, or maybe im just cheap. The 634 dose sound cool. In fact i was planing to take it to the lake latter today. I have not had a chance to take it out much got no snow here, got to make sure its okay to go the reunion is coming up in a month now.

75whip, Yes it is good property. That is why pictures and more info are going to be needed. It would look very good in my 71 super stinger! LOL Too bad, I don't have the caching to make that happen. Lol, ddub I was kinda thinking I would build a 71 super stinger around this motor. But you are right need pics, and more info, however would like one even if it needed a total rebuild , Im in the same boat just not enough caching here either.

Google the model number of the engine, and do your homework on it. Use the bull section on vintage sleds and see what the motor is. Thats all im going to say. Hirth 172r-41?? its called a reb barron Hummmm. As Borat would say (very nice! How much?) lol

I always have heard about that Montana pipe used on the scorpions. I was looking for one for a long time to run with the 400 Sachs I use to have but never found one. I have seen pics of if but the only cassis I ever found factory with the same 400 used the Sachs pipe that exited by the area the Donaldson exited. Sold the Sachs 400 and a bunch of parts and got the 634 hirth and finished the hirth stinger I had. I know a guy who races the 370 Sachs and loves it and they are alot cheaper to deal with than any of the ss or comp Sachs engines

Thats why FOR HIM it would be best to post everything one part at a time on ebay. I wish he would bring it all to the reunion for all of us to pick over. I wish things like this pop up close to home. I would love to go check it out. But I dont like wheeling and dealing I just dont have the time for it.
