The easy way to add a pic is:
Start with reply, NOT QUICK REPLY
Then there is a button at top right of screen called "Add Attachment"
You can simply grab a photo from a file on your confuser and click Attach
These photos show up kind off small, but if you click on the pic it gets bigger.
When you guys post pics of your sleds in the garage, I blow them way up, and look around to see what other cool shit you have in the back ground! Then I comment on that stuff.
Man I love Junk

This is one I call Free air Bubble, I call it a 1969 Bandido, 1 of 1 ever made factory prototype racer! It is actually a 71 wedge chassis converted to a Bubble, with a old chopped up JLO I had it at a show and labeled it 69 Bandido, nobody questioned me ? Attachments:

It seams like we have had this debate before, and concluded that those numbers do not give a good clue.
About all you can do is look at old manuals and sales brochures to see what they made or advertised in certain years.
All my old stuff, I get close, and then just call it whatever I like. Usually if appears to be a 1970 or 71, I call it a 69. Leave it up to the next guy to prove you wrong.
You have a cool sled there, what motor, can you post more pics.

Yep, that is the old Scorpion Rat Trap Clutch. The rollers get flat spots on them, and the spring is to weak. I have not had much luck finding a stiffer spring to fit, but maybe you can find something, and trim it to length?

If your racing,I would use a comet 102, for trail riding use a comet 94 duster, they are easy to adjust.

Yes, those old scorpion clutches would engage just barely off idle. They need a stiffer spring, but sometimes a stiffer spring will bottom out and not allow the clutch to shift all the way out.
Ben a while since I played with one, but look for a spring, or maybe you can lighten up the weights a bit?
Can you post some pics?

I think it is the fan or the fan bearing, try running it with out the fan belt. When I re-build a cuyuna, I always either replace the fan bearings or add grease to the originals.
But that whining sound is a classic trademark of the old Scorps. A true Scorpion aficionado will keep those bearings dry, and let whine!

Scorpion Whip, Sting, TK Drive Wheels. These are OEM Gates Poly Drive, 12 tooth, 3.29, Fits a 1” Shaft. They have the usual plastic cracks near the center. I have added some epoxy and a hose clamp, and run them on a grass dragger without problems. $40 Each, free shipping to lower 48. Call Steve @ 507-259-853six. I I have 3 available. Thank you

What sled is it, points or cdi?
Those throttle safety switches are always a problem. I disconnect mine, and use a tether.
Otherwise, you have to have all the slack out of the cable, and both switches have to be good, which is wishful thinking on a 40 year old sled.
Are you in Homer AK?

Any chance the plug wires, or wires from points to coil are switched. Try switching and see if pops. Verify your timing Another thing that always works from me is a shot of Stabil in the carb. This oily stuff causes lots of compression and starts engines, you can even keep it running on this till the float bowl fills up. Also you can blow into the gas tank, or use a rag and an air hose, give it few puffs and watch the float bowl fill with gas. Another thing is be sure your exhaust is not plugged or partially plugged, that will make them not start.

ok, it gets tricky because they made those little Tillys a couple different ways.
The gas line from the tank definitely goes to the fuel filter nipple.
Does your carb have another nipple, if so, it is for a return line or a pulse line.
I am guessing in your case it is a pulse line, so connect a short little gas line from that nipple on your engine to the other nipple on the carb. This creates the pulse to make the pump work.
Also, if the sled has been sitting for 10 years, the carb may not work properly until cleaned and tweeked.
Oh ya, like Oldscorpman said, the fuel pick up line inside the gas tank has to be changed, it will be brittle and break off for sure.

Now that is has been run, how much compression do you have ? Be sure to have both plugs out, and hold throttle wide open, give it about 6 pulls, or keep pulling till the gage stops moving.
Another thing is, those compression gages are notorious for being out of calibration. I have 3 gages and they all read different by as much as 10 pounds!

Maybe the points have been replaced, and are not exactly the same, you know how this aftermarket stuff is always a bit wrong.
I have ground out and elongated the slots in the stator plate a time or two. Whatever it takes to get the timing right.
Does this one have angle plug heads, or the Hemi head?

Try giving it a shot of stabil through the carb, or a tablespoon of oil in each cylinder.
